I love the "tip pick" myself for getting the tip to hold chalk. I dont think it's been around for a real long time. im talkin about the one thats made of brass about the size of a tube of chapstick. I can't see myself without it.

5) Sledgehammer - only break cue that makes me feel strong.

4) Sardo sh*t rack - I think I rack better by making my arms into a triangle

3) Overpriced Ivory Laden cues - I would never have a plain jane cue
give me fancy, gaudy, and enough illegal ivory to put every one in jail forever.

2) IPT - Gotta give the guy a little credit. He payed a lot and then staged more events knowing he wasn't going to pay. He even still has believers in this!

1) Elephant Beautiful Balls - which ball was I shooting at again?

The tournament statistical analysis magazine came out over twenty years ago, and the video production began about twenty years ago, but I think Accu-Stats Video is the best thing to happen to pool since I've been playing.

Chris Hightowers lathes, books, videos, etc. He has helped so many new cuemakers get a start, and we all benifit.

Accu-Stats with the pro players commentating.

I love reading and learning about champion players, so for me, the books
"The GosPool" and "Banking With the Beard" by Freddy Bentivegna, "Willie's Game" by Stanley Cohen, "Hustler Days" by R.A. Dryer and "Rags to Rifleman" (biography of Buddy Hall) by W.W.Woody. Grady Mathew's book "Bet High & Kiss Low" was also good, but it would have been even better if he had left out the word "horse"

AZB and OnePocket.org because you can learn much more about the pro players as persons.

ACCU-STATS Videos. Without them, the history of pro pool for the last twenty years would be incomplete.

The Tip Tapper was the hottest tip tool for years and years. Hundreds of thousands have been sold, and they still sell today.

The Predator Shaft made Allen McCarty a rich man. Great idea with perfect timing.

Simoniz becoming a sponsor on the pro tour in the early 90's pushed their cloth sales through the roof. And it has never subsided since. Prior to this, they were primarily a billiard table cloth, which is a small market.

The Diamond Smart Table, a major breakthrough for small tables. The Diamond table lights are the nuts also.

The Measle cue ball, superior in so many ways. Couldn't believe something could come along and replace Red and Blue Circles.

And a special mention to Ginacue, the most creative cuemaker of all time. Ernie set new standards for excellence in the cuemaking world.

One last one. Allen Hopkins Super Expo. Damn! is all I have to say. What an event he has created.

My votes:
1) Simonis 860
2) Layered tips
3) CNC (and specifically 4-axis CNC)
4) Quick Release Joint
5) Quick-Clean / Chalk Off

It may date some posters to reminisce about playing before Simonis 860 was the rage ;)
