Trade gone wrong

Recently I did a trade with a certain AZ'er in which the cue I received was mis-represented as far as condition goes. I was told the cue was in excellent condition and when I received it I was amazed that anyone would think it was excellent. The shafts have small nicks and the butt of the cue has nicks as well. The finish on the butt-cap is also chipping off. I have tried to email this person mutiple times with no response and although I do not wish to call this person out, I will if the situation is not fixed. What should my next step be? By the way they have 100% itrader with 5 transactions all in positive standing.

I would recommend messaging him on here as well and watching to see if he logs in on here without responding. Sometimes things happen and people cannot get on here or into their email for whatever reason it may be. It could be as simple as your emails getting put into their spam folder and they have no idea yet, or they could be out of town for an emergency. Until you are sure they are ignoring you or if it has been a very long time (at least 3-4 weeks) I would refrain from calling them out on here.

Generally if the person has stopped communicating one of two things has happened. They are either in poor health or they have intentionally avoided the situation. Watch and see if the person is signing in the forum, if they are then you kinda know what is happening as sad as that may sound. I-Trader really doesn't mean anything more than up to this point the person has been honest, but it seems with all the bad times this country is having many honest people have changed.

In the mean time post photo's of the damage to the cue. Is there a possibility it could have happened in shipping, was the cue insured?

I hope things work out for you, but if all else fails add the persons name to this thread, sometimes group pressure can help so long as your correct in your comments and can prove it with Pm's or Emails.

Hope you paid PayPal as goods right. If so it can also be claimed that way if the time comes

Your definition of excellent condition maybe different than the seller's. If the cue is old and straight, then a few nicks and dings would make it in excellent condition. Just an opinion....

Was it an older cue, because I can see how someone would say it's in excellent shape if it's quite old. It's sort of like grading coins.. depending on age "excellent" could mean a lot of things.

I don't believe cues are like grading coins. I have purchased 40 year old cues that have looked like they were made yesterday. There is pretty much a standard of what excellent condition should be if you have bought and sold here for a while. If the seller does not disclose any nicks, dings, or finish issues, then excellent condition is perceived as like new.

If there are any problems or blemishes other than a brand new looking cue, they should be disclosed.

To the OP, as others have said, check when he last logged on. If you have sent him multiple pm's before this, it is most likely that he is avoiding you. Good luck trying to find a resolution.

^^^^^^ This ^^^^^^

Pictures, and a disclaimer that "other than a few nicks and dings, this cue looks like new", or something along those lines, would have gone a long way here.
Any significant scratches, dings or dents ? Take a picture of the afforementioned "defect" next to a common item (paper money and coins make for excellent perspective items).

Well I guess it's personal perception. Our idea of condition may differ from another. Regardless the seller should have informed the buyer.

i would show the pics of the cue and its description by the seller and the pics as it got to your door
that way you are presenting the facts as objectively as possible

For me, my first priority when selling something (or trading) is to make sure the buyer is happy when they get it. The fact that he is not trying to contact you is bad!! Secondly I always have a return if not 100% policy. So hopefully he will undo the deal for you.

Hope it works out for you.

My policy as well. The only thing to quibble over when/if that were to happen is shipping back and forth. If detailed pics/description are provided and you talk, this can normally be avoided. I agree this doesn't sound good. Did he acknowledge receipt of the cue/item you sent to him?

Descriptive terms are subjective by their very nature. Different people think "excellent" mean different things. Nobody is right or wrong, its completely a manner of opinion. You bought or traded the item without being able to actually inspect it, so hopefully you two were smart enough to guarantee satisfaction to each other and will simply be able to unwind your deal and your trade partner can move on to find someone who agrees with his evaluation of the cue.

This is exactly what I was going to post! IMO, this is probably what happened...as opposed to someone deliberately trying to screw someone.

Agreed.... until the person receiving it had a differing opinion. Then I think they should simply "untrade". When a person doesn't want to immediately undo a trade as in this case without the benefit of doing the transaction face to face, I think there may be something fishy.

I have never sent out a cue that I did not have any dingers in the shaft(s) removed, and then cleaned and conditioned. I feel it's the least I can do for the buyer. Any kind of damage in the butt, ie; dings, dents, finish issues...are fully disclosed.

I saw the cue last night, and I can vouch for the OP that this cue is nowhere close to "excellent" condition. Everyone can say that the word excellent is subject to debate. But when it comes down to it, any honest person would never classify this cue as in excellent shape. When it comes down to it, In my mind this cue has enough wear and tear on it to need refinished. I hope this situation gets resolved.
