There are a lot of people who think the latest twist of trick shots - when they started bouncing rubber balls and shooting between swinging triangles etc - JUST ruined the concept of trick shots. What happened to the stroke shots and stuff like that?

I will watch set up shots, stroke shots, some props and masse etc. and stuff like that - but I will not watch (or promote) anything like I have seen over the last couple of years.

I don't think I am alone.
I think I should do a shot where I have to walk around the table on my hands and then shoot the ball. What kind of trick is that??

The new breed of trick has basically ruined the concept of trick shots.

I am not saying that Segal and a few ohters are not deserving - I am saying that these new type of shots should never be allowed in the competition.

Wow, Semih Sayginer finally got his match! Very well done. I would like to see the two of you go at it at a trick shot competition match! :thumbup:

Well, for the very few competition I'm doing, I don't think I'm doing too bad, unless Andy I already beat the best ranked players (n°2,3 and 4...) + as you may know our matches with Andy have always some issues that I won't describe here...

Also, since the beginning, and I keep thinking it, I don't think Trick shots can only be judge by this type of competition, It's not the soul of Tricks we're talking about. You can work on anything to win, play with the rules and do weird shots but what's the point if you lose the beauty of the sport which is, to my mind, actually not a sport but an art...

Mark I fully agree with you ,as of late Artistic pool has been quite boring, and border line blasphemy towards those who have paved the way for what is now considered trick shots..

I believe Andy, Nick ,Tom,Mike, and others who have been involved in artistic pool for more than a decade or 2, are now just going with the flow..

Artistic pool badly needs the innovation of people such as Venom, to breathe life back into the Trick shot branch of billiards..

Once Venom supercedes Segal,, the stage is his to change how trick shots are currently perceived , and most importantly bring artistic pool back to its roots, with his own twist of never before seen style..

I for one stand in Venoms corner ,, I invite a change for the better..:cool:

People like Florian bring excitement to pool. Without question, Florian has completely redefined what trickshot pool is. He has raised the bar exponentially.

Watching a Venom Trickshots video, then comparing it to ESPN's trickshot shows is like watching the U.S. Open 9-ball championships vs. an APA league match. Those guys need lessons from Florian. He would humiliate the majority of them.


No, I don't believe that to be an exaggeration. Florian has made almost all of those trickshot guys OBSOLETE. Relics of the past. Except Mike Massey, who is still relevant thanks to his powerful stroke.


There is one area that Florian, in my opinion, was still not top level and that's in power masse of the 3-cushion variety. Although, this latest video of his indicates that he may be able to take on Seyginer in an all out extreme masse battle. I would very much like to see someone match or exceed Seyginer is pure extreme masse power. Because that guy has been recognized as having the best masse.


Once Florian does that, he will be, in my view, the undisputed greatest, all around trick shot talent on the planet. There will be no niche or skill set that he won't possess and dominate. The same way Efren can be champion in all the games, Florian can be the best trick shot artists in all the various areas of billiards.

I love those stroke shots, keep 'em coming! I also do not understand the concept of a trick shot "competition". Like Florian says, it's more art than anything else. Would anyone would have liked a speed painting competition with Da Vinci vs. Van Gogh? Who cares, just appreciate it and enjoy.

Very well stated!! This is a great video!! The first time I ever saw a "trick shot" video, it was Semih Sayginer doing 3C tricks. I was absolutely amazed and concluded "wow...trick shots are really cool!" I totally agree with Mark Griffin though...they have become pretty ridiculous, and have almost nothing to do with actual pool or billiards. I thought the whole idea was to show the art and intrigue or pool and billiard shooting...you do this wonderfully!
