I'm new to pool (after a 15yr break) and just bought a Downey cue. It isn't here yet and I'm dying to know what you all think of them. Thanks in advance.

Troy Downey is my main cue, use it everyday. When its time to get a new tip might try a kamui med. this tip gives me super feel an control of that little white ball. Skip

Love my Downey. Made in 1999, it's a simple 4 pointer 2 veneer ebony into bird's eye with some fancy ring work and a black leather wrap; pure class. It has some of the darkest ebony I've ever seen, and the points are flawless. It was my main player up until I got my Omen, and sometimes I still think it plays better than my Omen does.

a downey cue is in the top 5 of my personal list of best playing cues ever. a buddy of mine has a purple heart downey that outplays almost everything i've ever touched

can't go wrong getting one!

it's 2010 man. don't just describe it post a picture or 2. some of us grew up watching too much tv. my imaginations has been killed by years of TV abuse

I have a Downey cue I gave to my daughter that she loves. I love it too. Beautiful cue though.

I've had a few come through for tips and stuff. I also have a couple friends that play with them. They look and play great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I think you will be very happy with it.

It's hard to believe this post when your sig line specifically says that your "playing cue" is an Espiritu and your Troy Downey cue is listed under "other cues" ;). Maybe your sig line is in need of an update :):):)!!!

When my table gets set up, I'll take some better pictures.

Hey Maniac, relax a little bit. Sorry that I have not changed my Sig. line. My grandson did my sig.line , his birthday is coming up I will sent him his check an not sigh it. I'm sure he will come over to see gram-paw an I will have him up date my info. I fell in love with my Troy Downey when I had Jim Lee put a real lizard wrap an put kamui med tips on both shafts. Sorry to ramble on. Dowey was a great cue before the changes I just made it better for me. Skip

The cue you have is a twin to mine. I'm sure you will love it. Skip

C,mon Skip, I was just playin' with ya :grin-square:. I wish my grandson lived close enough and was computer saavy enough to do my typin' for me. Then, I'd just sit back in the easy chair and dictate to him. I could probably post a heck of a lot more on here if I had someone else do the keyboard work :embarrassed2:. I'm a sl-o-o-o-o-w typer.

Did you sell your Espiritu? I almost ordered a Troy Downey cue a couple of years ago. I didn't want to wait on it so I bought a nice Jacoby (D-11). No regrets, but that Downey of Mark V's pictured above sure would look sweet in my Instroke case!!!

High level cue craftsmaship and good cue value, IMO.
