True of False: Is Kamui chalk used as a base primer before normal chalk?

I have heard that you should use a Kamui $30.00+ chalk as a base primer coat and any other chalk before every shot. True?

Last week a friend of mine brought Kamui chalk over to use while we were shooting. I was curious also.... It made a BIG mess all over my table and is hard to clean off. He is not allowed to use Kamui chalk on my table anymore. I will stick to Magic Chalk, Lava, Blue Diamond, or Masters.

Kamui chalk's biggest market are with players like this.....

They use it for makeup

On the chance this is a legitimate question: I tried out a friend's kamui chalk and used it by itself on a clean tip (wiped free of chalk) and as a base coat for Masters.

In neither instance could I tell any difference in the performance over my usual use of Masters before each shot. While I wont deny others the benefit and value of their individual experiences, Kamui chalk was of no interest to me. Having tried it for free, I wonder if my experience would be biased if I'd paid $30 for it. There's a strong urge to qualify a purchase that seems comparatively extravagant.

A Friend of mine gave me a cube because he didn't like it. Pretty much what I use it for, altho it won't make a bit of difference.

My tips are always cleaned after games, so yes, I put on a base coat and then use Pre Flag. This only happens on occasion when I happen to use my Bar Cue for messing about, because the Kamui is in the single case with it.

Magic Chalk is every bit as good as Blue Diamond. I can use either one and make several shots with one chalking. That is, if one is comfortable in playing and disrupting your regular Pre Shot Routine by not chalking every shot.

The very first time that I used it, it happened to get a little dust under the ferrule and I had to clean the shaft on the lathe as this stuff gets on and can be difficult to get off like regular chalk.

There is absolutely no chalk on the face of this Planet that is worth 30 buckarooinies.

It is, or was a Gimmicky Fad that players may try one cube and then if they haven't set it on a shelf forever, they will likely never buy another cube.

I have a few boxes of Diamond left over, over a Gross of Pre Flag plus a few boxes of Magic. RJ sent me another few boxes of Magic a few Moons ago so that is what I prefer.

For the cost and the quality of that, it is worth stocking up a bit with Magic and not worry about any other brand like Predator and so on. I tried a Friends Pred chalk and would have to say, not too bad, but then, only slightly better than Master chalk.

I find that the Magic is slightly grittier than Diamond, which is good because one can make a serious mess with Diamond if you chalk too vigorously.

I have used Kamui chalk this way. So yes, it is true. I prepare my tip with their Gator Grip tool, put on the 0.98 Kamui chalk, tap in in with the tool, then proceed to chalk as normal with Blue Diamond chalk. It works well.

I heard the navy was using it as touch up paint for subs and battle ships.
But seriously foks......
if you have a rather inexperienced player on your team that just can't remember to chalk at least every other shot, after the lag or flip chalk up their cue with the Kamui and then before each game. Then clean the balls when they're done, that shit is like BBQ sauce on ribs, it gets everywhere

lol you people exaggerate ... I play 5 days a week at home and my table is no more dirty at the end of the week then it was when I used masters. I only lightly touch it up between racks so maybe that makes a difference. If you put it on like you icing a cake then yea you may have an issue.

I have a friend who uses tan masters chalk and that makes 10 times the mess on the table that me using kamui.

On a side note to the original poster ... ALWAYS USE IT BEFORE RAM SHOTS!!! IT'S DANGEROUS NOT TO FOR GODS SAKE!!
