Trying to get even for being hustled

Hey Johnny, any chance this guy just joined the ranks of the unemployed as a result of a fraudulent trade practice? If so, don't be surprised to find a crow bar in your A/C unit, a key job on your car or what have you. Burning him twice might make him quite the vengeful person. Keep the rock salt loaded partner...

If the roll was reversed and someone hustled you and you were called to that guy's house, you'd give him an $11 fix-it quote? Of course not. That's all I'm saying. What that guy did was totally within fair-play. That said, you out-moved the "move" and for that you deserve an atta-boy.

Shit, if you ran into that guy at a restaurant, he'd probably rub his nuts on your burger back in the kitchen. So all in all, at least you ran into him in your environment with something you can control....right? :)

Well when you put it like that, yuck , I guess you're right.. Thank you.

Spidey, two gamblers going at it on a pooltable in a test of skills is TOTALLY different than a business man, being relied upon & paid for his skill & expertise, trying to take advantage of someone ("elderly" at that...Johnny's word, not mine). Good job of keeping him honest, Johhny.

I thought Johnnyt gave up writing fiction?

Eric

I wonder how Johnnyt knew the motor capacitor was bad, the refrigerant was up to the correct pressure (no leakage) and nothing was wrong (at all) with the coils if he isn't an HVAC guy?

For all we know, his unit is on the fringe of a complete shit-out and the guy gave him a legit quote to replace the on-the-fringe parts instead of a band-aid solution.

Not knocking his story - just saying there's no proof based on his post the guy was trying to rob him at all. He didn't even get a second opinion to look at the unit.

Like his boss didn't know his repair men were thieves like him. Johnnyt

I'm sure Johnny played full speed when he played the guy - Johnny admitted he hustled the dude.

There's zero proof in any of this that the HVAC guy tried to screw him. $900 for those parts is not out of line. If I had to bet, I'd say Johnny got a legit quote from the guy. Johnny should take a pic of his unit with the cover off so we can see how rotted out it really is. I bet the entire unit is on the verge of collapse. He prob NEEDS those parts.

I've got to admit it Dave.. I was thinking the exact same thing.. I thought you were a retired nurse Johnny??:D

Of course I do know lots of people that can fix about anything, Johnnyt may be one of these? Personally, I am certainly not one of those folks.

The landscaper clogged the outside drain with woodchips. The unit overheated. After I unclogger the pipe I noticed the moter outside was not running so I popped a cover and saw the capacitor had a bulge in it. I pride myself on never having to call repairmen. Just becuase I don't know computers don't make me stupid. Johnnyt

How old is the unit?

I said I lied to his boss about being a retired A/C man. Yes I was a nurse for the last dozen years of work. Before that I was a auto and marine mechanic, diesetter for jewelry findings machines, so I have a little idea how to fix most things. I worked at a lot of different jobs in my 50+ working years. Oh, and I was a paperboy...but that don't count in this. Johnnyt

YEah - thinking the same thing!!!

Well, who is to say that they changed the capacitor, knowing that it will require more in the VERY near future. Maybe they helped it out a little bit:eek:

What happens when Johnny has to call them back out for more repairs - probably be greater than the original $900 quote.
You stuck it to them!!!:p

The hustle is yet to begin:grin-square:

Drain? What drain? You mean the condenser was clogged and the compressor/fan motor ran too long? If the capacitor is shot, chances are the compressor might be in bad shape too?

I thought the parts store was closed? How did you tell the repair man to fug off and go buy the part? Why didn't you do that in the first place?

Eric >full o' questions

Johnnyt. If you look at the line coming from the unit when running and it's iced up then the freon is low. It's probably ok otherwise.
