Yeah, since they're only getting like 400+ players per division.

Deadon said:I believe Shane has been offered the same challenge, race to 100, with Dennis, and the offer was declined. I'm not sure Busta could get there, but what a game that would be.
BTW, the offer was a couple weeks ago.

Shane got when he was still back there in Manila, thnx to Toupee Jay!![]()
SVB beat Romy "Salamin" in 9 ball (9-4) for 1000 pesos, and another grand
in 10 ball while giving the wild 8 (9-8). Romy is outside the top 100 there.
SVB won against 19 year old Mike Feliciano in 9-ball (9-7)for 2000 pesos.
They played even.
SVB beat Jeff De Luna for 2 dimes playing 10 ball. The score was 21-13.
SVB over Rodolfo Luat for 2 dimes (15-14).
SVB again over Ramil Gallego for 2 dimes (11-10).
SVB lost to Warren Kiamco for $3,250 playing 10 ball (28-17).

jay helfert said:Actually, I think the offer was to play Lee Van for 50K, while he was in Manila. But he had a prior engagement with Earl. I like Shane (a lot) but that is a game that he will have to do a lot of thinking before taking. If it were to come off, it would probably be a Race to 100 played at Bugsy's. The same place where Shane played De Luna.
PoolBum said:Jay,
Don't mean to put you on the spot, but I'm curious. Who would you pick in these match-ups, race to 100, 9-ball, winner breaks?
SVB vs. Efren
SVB vs. Archer
SVB vs. Bustamante
SVB vs. Yang
Who would be a favorite against Shane in a race to 100, 10-ball, winner breaks?

So are you saying that in your opinion, Lee Van Corteza is the biggest threat to Shane among all the Fillipinos? Aside from Lee Van, who among the Filipinos do you think will give Shane a hard time?

jay helfert said:Any one of about a dozen players are a threat to beat Shane, evidenced by his loss to Kiamco. Lee Van is the player that the BIG backers in Manila are interested in putting in the box against Shane. He stands up good for the cash.
If Shane is going to play an Asian player in a TAR match, Yang and Lee Van are the two most logical choices. But Francisco, Alex, Dennis, Ronnie and Marlon would be very competitive as well. All of these players figure to give Shane much more trouble than Corey or Earl did. There wouldn't be any 3-2 lines or 15 to 20 games on the wire.
You might see someone offer 6-5 or maybe 5 to 7 games on the wire in Ten Ball, with the latter five. Against the first two players, Shane may still be the underdog!
Marvel said:Jay, I've heard that Lee Van has beaten Dennis couple of times for large amount of pesos in Manila, but would you still consider him being stronger than Dennis, who was the top dog until that Yang incident?
I know the backers can be ruthless, and the loss to Yang maybe hurt Dennis and his rep a bit, but every time Dennis has matched up with Dyango (at least those times I've heard of) Dennis has won, then those match ups with Efren and Lee Van, I've heard Efren had won, and I've heard that Efren don't like to play Dennis as "he cannot beat him".
Maybe someone likes to play someone more than someone else, these chemistry things are natural, but I'm still bit curious if Lee Van can come out stronger than Dennis.
About Yang I'm not sure, as I saw his loss and spoke to the same taiwanese reporter as you, and Yang really seemed to have lost his motivation somewhere. After a long break, he could stand up again and beat Shane, not probably now.
And one more question. When you invited Yang to DCC, and Yang asked from you "if they gamble 9 or 10?", did you sort of read from him that he doesn't want 10? I've sort of understood, that they still play mostly 9 in Taiwan..
