Turning Stone - rip off

TWENTY-ONE PAGES!! I think everyone on both sides of this have pretty much aired it out. Is it "shut -it down' time? Let's hope so. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oh how thankful I am to have gotten to see that video of Cleary's play before any mods took your suggestion. Looks to me he'd be throwing 200.00 away whether he showed or not.

Jam, I can vouch for the correspondence between Mike and Justin.

Mike

Thanks, AzHousePro! I was curious as to how he had such detailed information.

I do know Mike Zuglan reads this forum. I am 100 percent sure this thread got his attention. It is good that Justin was able to relay some info about the event from the horse's mouth. :)

Well, I'd say it's clear now what I need to do. It seems the only way I'll get some respect is to have my own pool tournament so that's what I'm gonna do. And be very transparent about my policies.

Introducing the fist annual $1,000,000 for first place Cleary Tournament!

Very happy about this, I'm putting my money where my mouth is.

December 7-10 in New York City
256 max entry. Entry dude by Oct 29th
$1 million for first place, guaranteed!
10ball, race to 5, winner break
Anyone can play!!
$75 entry (no green fees!!!)

A few policies:
-No refunds, no exceptions
-dress code: must wear clown outfit (bonus ball uniforms qualify)
-must prepay by October 29th
-tournament director (myself) can play in the event
-no chewing gum
-break bucket rules in effect
-TD can throw you out of tournament, for any reason or for no reason, at any time
-no jump cues

Please contact me to send your money. Thanks.

Andrew, making a post like this will not get you any respect, that's a certainty. It only makes you look foolish. By now, you've made your point a hundred times over. Don't you think it might be time to go on to something else? This can't be that compelling to spend so much of your time arguing about it anymore. I would also advise those who feel the need to keep engaging you on this thread to give it up also. Nothing anyone has said in 300+ posts is going to change anything! Talk about a fruitless discussion. This one tops the list. :scratchhead:

But have you heard about the sage grouse problem in Arizona? Well, they're on the verge of being an endangered species, poor birds. :(

What's a large thread on AzBilliards without a dog picture?!

Jay, I have no desire to gain respect on a pool forum. Those who know me personally, know who I am and that's all I care about. Do you not beat topics to death on Facebook? (Trump) You feel strongly about them so, have at it. That's your right.

Yea I've made my point but it doesn't seem to get through. Making a post about creating a pool tournament with policies that are extremely unfavorable to the players shows just how easily you can be transparent about an unethical policy which seems to be a point of contention

Only in the world of pool is the moral authority of someone's actions and statements based on how well they play.

Not refunding your money is a pile of crap.

I disagree. It should go into the prize fund. It's no different than reserving a place with cash down....don't want it they keep the cash.

Been there done that and never bothered me because it's my fault always even if it's work that makes it happen. Tho usually I bust them for extra OT when things like that happen

Whatever, I've been honest about how I play. I play even with folks who are in the 550 range. Yea, I happen to have a few bad matches on the internet. What can ya do? Any established sub 500 players wanna dance, I'll try you something cheap.

Look.... you don't have a rating in our system because you don't have 200 games...

[snip poor judgment part]

I never claimed to be great or even very good but finding bad videos of an average player isn't tough. Here's some more.

Playing the ghost. You'll giggle at how poorly I was breaking and jumping that day. Not sure this is apa3 level or not:

Here's a spot shot drill I do. I wish I was able to do more but I try. Probably easy for everyone but I find it tough on my snug diamond:

Another spot shot drill inspired by Kenny the Russian:

And this is what pool should be all about. Fun! Why play pool if it's going to be an unpleasant experience?

Best fun I ever had in pool was when I played on the leagues.

The Turning Stone Entry Policy is a good one. The tournament is one of the few events that fills months in advance. If the policy is to do refunds, the players will pay their entry early and decide later if they are going to play. I run a popular regional quarterly event for the first 64 paid entries. My event always filled in days after it was announced. Then the withdraws came in as the event neared. One time, twenty-two players had withdrawn by tournament time. Finally, I had enough. These players discouraged legitimate entries, and created more work and confusion, not to mention that players are hesitant to go on a waiting list (they need to plan too.) The Turning Stone Promoter has it right.
