read the Original Post and you will find out.

I saw that, they were lucky the guy didn't take off after a few minutes. I guess he wasn't too worried.

Wow!! Congrats on the sleuthing and detective work! Visiting the local pawn stores worked for you.

in the Philly area, you would probably have to add the Atlantic City pawn shops to your circle. That would add about 70 miles.

I'm happy to report that about an hour ago, I got a call from the local police
to tell me that they "RECOVERED MY CUES" all 3k worth WHOOHOO!

the day after they were stolen I went around to EVERY pawn shop within 35 miles and dropped off pics and a description. Today. a guy came in to pawn them. They recognized the case/cues from the pics so they acted like they were headed into the back to "get a value" they called the police and the rest is sweet sweet history.

Turns out, this guy is probably not who stole them, but he somehow ended up with them. who knows if he'll roll over and tell who he got them from. I'm sure he will not want to get stuck with the felony theft charge!!!

wow.. I feel WHOLE again

Stolen Cues

I am glad you got your cues back.

I recall Cue Broker John Wright had "all" of his cues stolen from inside of his house. He did not have insurance to cover anywhere near the value of these cues. In the end, the police got the kid and John got all his cues back.

John told me he did not press charges and he was just happy to get them back. John was a one-of-a-kind guy.

Regards,
Hal

All I see in your first photo is that Awesome Whitten Case  :D

Congrats on getting them back.

just want to say thanks for all the kind words and congratulations. I too am very surprised that they came back home so quickly. I really figured they were gone for good.

as someone mentioned earlier in this thread... It would be a GREAT idea for everyone to take pics of their cues. I know that it basically saved my ass (and my cues) If I didn't have pictures of the EXACT items that were stolen it could have been much harder to recover. However I am well aware of just how lucky i really am. If they had driven a little further into dallas, they would have been gonzo. It acually makes me think the guy that tried to pawn them either

A. is a complete dumbass for pawning them so close to home (happened to be the pawn shop closest to my house)

B. Bought (or traded) them cheap and really didn't know they were stolen

C. is a complete dumbass.

either way I don't really care, just glad they(my cues) are sleeping at home tonight... inside of course!

I am so happy that you got your cues back. There is nothing worse than being wronged, the way you were. It leaves one with a feeling of helplessness, almost as if you were raped.

This is GREAT news. Good things do happen to good people, and you are blessed, my friend!

It is great that you recovered your cues. That is a 1 in a thousand chance. I would not bet that the dude who tried to pawn them was not the guy who stole them, though. Too much of a coincidence for him to "buy" the cues from someone only to decide to "pawn" them a couple of days later.

At any rate, great news...now be sure to press charges so someone else does not get taken.

Exactly Joe! Even if he did 'buy' them as claimed....it's called receipt of stolen property, and it is enforceable.

Even if he says he bought them it's a "dealing in stolen property charge."

opps never mind I see the guy above said it already ;)

After reading how they were stolen, you have also taught me another lesson, to not leave my cues in my truck!! I have been guilty of doing this, out of pure laziness and a naive belief that they are probably safe, cause I am able to park behind my house....

never again!

Wasn't even my stuff and that makes me feel great. I had a friend that had a really nice electric guitar stolen and after 3 years and losing hope he ran across it in a pawn shop. Luckily he still had the key to the case on his key chain. He opened the case proving the goods were his and after threatening to call the police the store owner let him have it. Good things do happen!!!!

Nah-Pool is such a small community-getting back stolen cues is almost 50-50 for the one who ACTIVELY seeks their cue back, doing all the right things etc.

Congrats!

Wow! Great news!
I only hope that mine turn up somewhere. I have visited several pawn shops in the Houston area and have even offered to pay them whatever they have in them if they turn up. So far no luck.
