Unhappy with Edwin Reyes

On July 30th 2006 (yes, thats 2006) I made a bet with Edwin (bandido) Reyes on the IPT tourney. I took Thorsten and Thorsten won. We bet an $850 cue which as of today he has not sent to me.

Here is the post with the bet:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=37491 Post 8 and 10

Edwin and I have been exchanging PMs for the last year and a half and I believe that I have been very very very patient.

Edwin has stated that the cue has been completed for more than a year but he does not want to ship it to the US as it is too risky (I disagree as I ship to the Philippines all the time and have had customers send product back to me from there with no problems)

I do not want to get into a he said/he said arguement with Edwin but I have saved every PM that Edwin has sent to me and that I have sent to him and can post them if necessary.

I sent a PM to Edwin more than a week ago and told him that my patience was at an end and that if he does not respond within one week confirming shipment of the cue, then I would go public on the main forum. He has posted several times on AZ in the last week but did not even respond to my last PM.

Edwin, a deal is a deal. If I had lost the bet, you would have had the cue within 2 weeks of the end of the tournament. I have been waiting 18 months!!!

Please lets put this behind us and send me what you promised.

I looked at the Post and looks like its a bet to me... a bet is a bet, SEND THE CUE~

so lame to have to chase down people who lose bets. People who welch on bets are lowlifes.

Im owed $100 from someone pretty well known on the board, and it sucks to have to chase down the cash. If I had lost they would have already spent the money I sent them.

Oh no another one of those threads, where they will be asking to Ban Bandito.

shipping

I haven't read the links but I'll assume the bet is valid. It is also a valid issue that shipping a cue to the US with ivory or even anything that looks like ivory can be risky. I know it is done quite often, I know also that cues that just looked like they had ivory in them have been impounded. It is illegal to ship a cue with ivory into the US.

I suggest that you either make plain to Edwin that you will accept proof of shipment as him having met his responsibility, or that you insure the package in case it goes missing. I doubt that insurance will actually cover customs scoring a cue though.

I think arrested and THEN banned would be better. Why do you insist on standing up for guys like this?

what's the risk? seems to me the cue is Ivory-Free ! there shouldn't be any problems with concerns to shipping. whether EMS, USPS, FEDEX, DHL, etc... there shouldn't be any problem. unless the sender is on the FBI's hot list.

Think Edwin need to speak up about the bet, as I am sure there is a good story here.;)

I do not know what the cue looks like. If sending a cue with ivory is illegal then I am happy to take one that does not have Ivory. I just want a cue worth $850 which was the agreed upon bet.

If Edwin built me a cue that has Ivory in it, surely he would know that there would/could be a problem sending it to the USA and that a non Ivory cue would have been a better choice.

He had said to me over a year ago that he would have a friend or family member bring the cue into the USA but that he was waiting for someone to make the trip. It would seem that after 18 months that is not a viable option.

As I said before, I just want a cue as that was the deal.

Anyone that knows me on AZ knows that these types of threads are not my style but my patience is at an end.

Not taking sides, but doesn't Reyes ship cues to the US all the time? I know he made a beutiful cue with members of the WPBA scrimshawed on it and shipped it here.

Always two sides to every story.

Jim

I dont blame you at all for being mad, you have much more patience then I would of had, waiting 18 months. Hope you get your cue bud!

Why have you not just picked up the phone and made a call to him.??

You may be right, and I certainly hope you are. Have you read the thread that was linked in Shane's first post? There definitely was a bet. No payment after 18 months for any reason deserves a beating. Let's hope that nothing shady is going on here.

A: I don't have his phone number
B: He lives in the Philippines
C: We have been communicating by PM

Jim,

I am not that familiar with his business. If he does, then I would like him to come on here and explain why he has not and apparently will not send one to me.

Hopefully someone shoots you the number like me.

Since the bet was over an IPT event, maybe Edwin is using the KT payment plan. LOL

Hey, Edwin, KT has sort of "PAID" off now. It's your turn now, bud.

Send the cue!

the KT method?

So he should send the tip first, then the shaft, and the butt later followed by the joint screw and bumber.

Cocobolo,
Obviously communication between Shane and Edwin has not been a problem.

So why would you think you're being helpful to provide a street address and phone?!?

You think that if he hears from Shane by voice everything will magically fall into place? Or if he gets a nice postcard from Shane, he will pack that cue up instantly?

Obviously Edwin has no intention to send the cue.

I'm glad when things like this are made public. It helps protect the rest of us. 17 months?!? Shane has been unbelievably patient.
