The US 9 Ball Open is not listed as a points event for BCA rankings for 2013. Does anyone know why and is Barry having trouble pulling it off this year?

Ya. It"s too bad. One of the best events but concerned he may not be able to keep it going. His real problems were brought to light when the ABP had enough of not being paid almost boycotted it. if anyone hears anything let me know.

The next question is have ALL the players and staff been paid yet? Johnnyt

:frown:

Nothing like beating a dead horse....

From the very beginning, almost all players were paid.

Were you one of the players that didn't get paid?

I didn't think so....

Are you saying that if he wasn't one of the players owed money its none of his buisness? Should failure to pay players in a public event where they posted a entry fee be not be made public for the good of the next guy who ponies up his 500 bucks? I want to know if they got paid. If they don't get paid i won't be attending next year. Will you? And if so please explain why?

Do you know how many players didn't get paid or only got paid a partial payment? This whole thing is old news and the amount of people that didn't get paid is less than a handful.

Barry has been running the U.S. Open longer then any other Professional tournament in America and seems a few people on AZBilliards just wants to run him down. I respect Barry and his dedication all these years to run a tournament. And no...it is none of my business about who didn't get paid what. Lots of people owe me money that I will never see. It was a learning experience. I don't go around crying about it 'cause it's no one else's business.

Yes...I will probably play in it again one of these years. I am sure I don't have to worry about not getting paid since I'm not good enough to get into the money. But we never know.

Really not trying to run Barry down. I love going to to Open every year. In general I think he has done a great job. My original issue is a concern that the US 9 Ball Open is not listed as a qualifying event for for BCA points. My guess is they do not have a venue set for this year or he will not be holding it. If anyone knows I would really love to find out.

To set the record straight the reason the ABP almost boycotted it because it sometimes took almost a year for all players to be paid including the tournament winner.

Come on, you don't know why? You just want to start the Bull $hit again about the freaking Open.

What a BS excuse to bring up this subject.

BB just hasn't locked in a site or dates yet. I'm sure the event will be added to the points list as soon as he does.

You people have to be kidding me!!! As a player it is my business as well as every other life long fan of the game. This isn't a local tournament where schmucky the clown got screwed out of his 4th place share of the $100 calcutta. This is our nations marquis event. Our nations open tournament.

The notion that "...less than a handful." is some how a mitigating factor is frankly insulting to anyone capable of cognitive reasoning. If one person got screwed out of their winnings it's one too many.

I don't know this Barry guy personally and I don't need to know him. Nor do I care how long he's been running the tournament so this is obviously not personal. There is no excuse for not paying these people. Not One! On May 14th 2009 I lost my son to cancer after a 13 month battle and every body I owed got paid that month..from the garbage man to the paper boy.

What sickens me the most is not the mistake that Barry made (and don't get me wrong I think that is exactly what it was..a very egregious stupid mistake) it's these mindless assertions that it's no one's business...if that's the best you've got perhaps it's better remain silent and thought a fool.... well you know the rest....

I want to clarify that after reading Barry's post I think this was an honest mistake and that Barry's response was both proper and earnest. And it sounds like Barry's one of the good guys who just made a mistake. As my original post indicates it's these idiotic post by others in his defense that are the most troubling.

Maybe you could make Barry an offer to acquire the rights to the US Open 9-ball. That way we don't ever have to worry about getting paid.

Dear Tim,
In my opinion, the actual value of the event is WAY less than what BB is going to think it is.

As structured, this event WILL lose money. It has more value to BB because of the boost to his pool room business.

Any offer I could or would make would probably be considered an insult.

It is possibly damaged goods- and I see no reasonable way to make it viable. And on a side note, I am not going to risk damaging my name by affiliating with the past management of the event. The risk is too high.

Hopefully this will help clear up this point. Life is too short to buy a job shoveling sh*t up a hill.

I also agree the us open 10-ball hopefully will evolve to be a more prestigious event.

All that being said, if someone can come up with a feasible solution, I will always listen.

Have a Happy New Year - everybody!
