US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

Watching Neuhausen butcher safety after safety. Playing slower than hell. It's hard to watch. I wonder if he'd actually play better WITH a shot clock? He seems to be doing a lot of overthinking. Engel on the hill 8-7. Go Jesse!!!

The pockets are so small that they are playing safe on open balls by giving their opponents long shots. This is boring as F. I see enough of that style of play on league night.
They are destroying pool forever. It's so crazy to me when I hear people saying smaller pockets are good for pool, they dont seem to grasp the bigger picture I can write a book about it and how bad it is. In fact, smaller pockets will favor more luck long-term than your old big pockets.

Leyman just entered the scene. Let's hope he don't start butchering stuff up too!!!

Neuhausen breaks dry. Jesse plays a bad safety. Neuhausen wins 9-8. I'm done for the day. This crap is truly unwatchable.

Someone on Facebook posted that when you go to cancel and list the reason as “it is too expensive”, DAZN will give you a year subscription offer for $150 or thereabouts. I of course don’t know if it’s true, but worth checking when you cancel.
That was the reason I picked. I didn't see any offer like that though. If I do later, I'll report back.

I like the small pockets. What I don't like is how so many balls hang up in the pockets on a miss. That really disincentivizes going for difficult shots. The more flared pockets of yesteryear didn't leave balls sitting in the jaws as much. Guess you win some, you lose some.

What size are the pockets? Are they not the same size as the Spanish, UK, European open? UK/Euro open seemed reasonable, Spanish open played like buckets. Was one of the points for MR being the standardisation of the rules, tables etc? So Shouldn't they be no bigger or smaller? Or have I misunderstood?

Just how small are they at this event? 4 inch?

Since I've always thought that payball is the ideal rotation game, you can see why I like these smaller pockets. ;)

It worked for me just now, I canceled, clicked it was too expensive, and then got (and accepted) this offer:

Still is too expensive IMHO.

I'm really confused what you guys are actually talking about here. Does anyone know the actual size of the pockets? And are they uniform with other MR events? Because again, I thought that was one of the selling points of MR. Standardising a game (which is an essential in my opinion). I mentioned before how the Spanish open tables seemed to have enormous pockets. Not many complaints about UK/Euro open. But many people, commentators, players and obviously forum members, moaning about the tightness of these tables.
