US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

What about a game (for example) with two 800+ players who are deliberately playing very careful and deliberate safeties back and forth? This happens a lot and is an enjoyable competition of skills to watch.
A chess clock would not interfere with this, unless the players took 2+ minutes to shoot every one of those safeties. The players would adapt, either way.

In 2021 they did in fact have a timekeeper/ref at every table, for the whole tournament. It must have cost a fair bit to get all those people in, so it's understandable that it changed. Sky Sports broadcast the whole six days in 2021 so maybe that covered the cost.

Chess clocks.. I bet even if MR would implement those people would complain how people in 80's did not need em..

Anyways idea could be ok but big international tournament is not proper plarform test it. People could test them in small weekly tournaments or friendly small money matches themselves and share pros and cons..
Just my 2 cents about subject

I've always thought chess clocks were the perfect solution and fit for pool.
I assume you could only press the clock as soon as all the balls stop moving. And what would happen if I press the clock and a ball was just about to stop? would it be some sort of penalty?

Stop the clock as soon as an inning fail is detected or the player gets up off the shot. If the detection is in error, rock, paper, scissors for the next inning.

If MR can't fade the cost of some refs they might need to re-evaluate how much they actually give a flying fk about their marquee event.

I'd be lying if I said I also didn't let my eyes wander to other tables.

Fortunately for the US public. The never ending whining of the overwhelming minority here on AZB don't mean crap to MR's PR group. ...or they might just decide not bother with this market at all and instead focus this effort toward all the other marquee events where their efforts are more greatly appreciated.

Luckily I'm betting that MR knows all too well that no matter what they do. They'll be a group of US native naysayers clinging to whatever negative they can dream up. So they'll keep marching to their own drum with a clear goal in mind. Fortunately for NA that still includes this market.

The whining was deserved. Did you watch the DAZN production? 1 of the days the music was so loud it was cutting off the commentators. And it wasn't joyful music anyway. It was literally funeral music.

The slow play is brutal. I challenge you to watch the Chang vs Shane match in its entirely without fast forwarding. I think you'll stab your eyes out.

At a minimum, for the outward facing matches that the squares see, they should have a 30 sec shot clock. The background music could have been turned off entirely and it would have sounded great.

We all want the same thing. A polished production that will keep the die hards like us engaged, and grow the game to the squares. Its not going to happen the way it was presented from day 1-4.

Vote with your viewership.

No downside.

I tried watching the Sanjin/ Tyler match and Tyler giving him the shot back and Sanjin taking so F"n long gave up. The next match was SVB vs One Flung Lo trying to play the jump shot was enough.

You might wanna go back and check out the video linked as "C Player's Unite!" I posted in response to one of your posts, brother.

I would absolutely shoot your nuts in.
Ok hero...except you'd wilt and I'd be living in your wallet.

Does anyone know where all 3 of these tables today are going to be streamed? If DAZN is streaming the TV table and Matchroom Multi-Sport YouTube is streaming table 2, then where can we see table 1?

Tend to agree with the slow play being a massive issue in the early rounds, makes it unwatchable
I have 2 screens going while I work with different matches so it's not as bad but I am not sure I could watch that SVB match without another going on simultaneously and I should be an easy target for viewership. I don't see how you can sell that match or others with very slow play to casual players or fans

New technology available proximity activated billiard balls. In the absence of a ref a billiard ball can activate an alarm to clearly indicate it has been subject to an all ball foul.

For an extra grant the balls will have embedded AR tags that can be activated by a smart lense to make it easier for people with vision loss. When you wear the smart lense a projected image of the table is digitized for enhanced rendering.

New technology will solve all pools problems.
You have never followed through with any of the dog shit you smeared on here.

Not one.

Does it make you feel special to pretend you are some producer worthy of funding? It should.

You are a special kind of special.
