US Open Live Scoring on AZBilliards

The matches on the winnerside:

Shane Van Boening vs Jose Parica
Mika Immonen vs Shawn Putnam
Johnny Archer vs Brandon Shuff
Daryl Peach vs Raj Hundal
Rodney Morris vs Adam Smith
Petri Makkonen vs Thorsten Hohmann
Francisco Bustamante vs Oscar Dominguez
Lee Van Corteza vs Ronnie Alcano

Some real good match-ups here. I am very surprised to see the kid from Finland, Petri Makkonen, doing so well. I have seen him in 2 tournaments earlier, and he played awesome in the final of the European Youth 8-ball Championships, but I didn't think his skills were good enough for a performance like this. Well done Petri, and good luck against Thorsten!

For some reason I think that Jose Parica will beat Shane Van Boening. No matter what happen, I believe it will be a very close match. Jose Parica is perhaps the player that wants this title the most. (Imagine if he wins the whole event, I guess that the first thing people will tell him is: Well, Efren didn't play this year:D)

The most interesting match here is definitely between the two Filipino superstars, Lee Van Corteza and Ronato Alcano.

I have just finished watching two matches on YouTube, Lee Van Corteza - Shane Van Boening (race to 25), and last year US Open match Lee Van Corteza - Niels Feijen.

Lee Van is playing some serious pool right now, but I think that Ronato Alcano is still a hair or three better than him, and that Alcano will win this matchup. However, my guess is that both these players, no matter who will win, will end up in Top 8 in this tournament.

when that time comes where Lee Van learned how to seriously focus on his kickshots, that would be the time when he would nail Ronnie in a consistent basis.

If it is rotation Ronnie would be a big favorite and a ball better than Van Van but nine ball IMO would be even steven for them..with very few hairline advantage by Ronnie (like constinency). I saw Ronnie also struggling with a lesser opponent in his earlier match.

On the side note I am rooting for Parica as the dark horse to win this tournament but this is not to speak too soon for him to run over SVB on his next match! Many are talking if Efren could still win a US Open and if Amang could take the whole thing that would be a story considering he is older than Efren. Remember also that Amang won against Efren on a way to a US Open championship (?).

Whoa! I've posted my take on Van-Van a couple of times here! How come we have the same read on him???

Lee Vann's weakness is his kicking, while Ronnie's Achilles heel is his showboating, which
is just once in a while. I'll take Ronnie, he will torture Lee Vann with his killer safeties...

coz that what I noticed about him everytime. there are a couple number of occasions that he lost his matches due to his kicking mistakes. some were sell-outs and some were fouls. sometimes he leaves himself snookered after making some wonderful and perfectly executed shots, which leaves him only one shooting option; to kick.

According to the brackets now 2:26 EST, they have the wrong names on table 5.. Should be Chohan vs. Rodriguez.. Runningen is out.

Take a look at some of these matches.
Donnie Mills is one AZ Billiards pro still grinding it out.

Darren "Dynamite" Appleton still has a few sticks of explosives in his aresenal.

Donnie and Darren will be playing against each other in their next match.

Daryl Peach is still growing some fuzz.

Thorsten is still fighting the fight.

Wish I knew when Alcano and Corteza are going to duel it out.
