Vacation

I’m not sure. It will be France. I not sure if the web is a thing over there🤨
Maybe Germany too, I get a hankering for pork knuckle now and then.

You might want to dress properly:

Everywhere is connected now. Our kid is doing a study abroad. You upgrade the phone plan and everything is internet etc…. Not that you want to be on AZ at something cool in France… but post some pictures.

pro tip for the pork knuckle. in bamberg in bavaria they have pork knuckle cooked for 8 hours in rauchbier (smoked beer). my favorite "knödel" on the side is schupfnudeln, but i don't remember if they have it in the rauchbier pork knuckle joint.

the city is gorgeous in itself, very "happy bavarian" in culture, beautiful buildings, etc. i've been to their yearly festival, and while everyone is drinking beer from lunch to late night and it's crowded streets i saw zero violence/brawls, just spontaneous singing and dancing.

france, unfortunately, is not in an ideal situation right now. stay safe.

I appreciate the all the tips and warnings.
This will be the sixth year in a row my wife and I have traveled to Europe.
Italy, Belgium and Spain were the first.
Then Türkiye and Greece.
Always spend a few days in Germany also.

We have a pit stop in Chicago to baby sit two of our Grandchildren and off to Paris Saturday night.
Always try and walk through a few pool rooms on my trips.

If you ever get a chance, visit the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten. My uncle is buried there.

I lived in Netherlands for a while and traveled around Europe, a lot on bicycle.

I was the first in my family to visit my uncle's grave. His widow, my mother's sister, went the following year.

The Netherlands is on our list. When I go I will PM you for advice and I have walked through many cemeteries over the years.

I found this stone in Trinidad Colorado.
The script was made of wire.

One Parisian version of German food is choucroute, from Alsace. Probably a pork knuckle in there somewhere:

And there are protests going on right now, but hopefully that will be more of an experience and not a real problem. Avoid looking young. Part of living where I do has been tear gas.

If I remember correctly NYC, London and Paris are top of your list of great cities.
Yes, those are my favorites. You have a good memory, my friend!

Still, there are a lot of cities in the USA and abroad that are absolutely great in my books. I've missed some of them. In Europe, Vienna and Athens are the two biggies that I've missed. In America, I have yet to visit New Orleans and Seattle. Maybe one day.

Have a great trip.

Indeed the Schlenkerla beer is might tasty with the right meat accompaniment. Spent some time in Bamberg and at one point it had the highest beer consumption per capita in the world.
