Vegas question

Before that it was the San Remo hotel, we used to go there to eat steak for $5 back when Vegas was the only place on earth you could eat steak when you were broke.

The steak place at the Trop had $82 steaks. I wonder if those were any good?

So, I'm getting ready to go play my first match. I had brought a soft case for the trip as I didn't want to risk my new case in the airlines.

I slap it over my shoulder and notice it feels funny. wtf? So, I pull it off my back and my hand is wet!

A cooler next to it had been leaking and it wicked up into my case. Crap.

I pull out the two shafts and butt and both are sopping wet and swelled way beyond the ferrule size. I touch my tip that I've been savoring for a month and it literally slides off sideways into my hand. The other shaft's tip was wet but still attached.

I miscued on our first match five times. We lost.

One of our players had TSA, flight issues so we played with only 4 players, vs. 5, and then he showed up 5 minutes after that loss.

A guy can't make up shit like this.

PS I ended up buying a new Predator.

The Trop lady was real nice and got us a Saturday night room even though they had claimed those didn't exist, and she combined our week day rate with the weekend rate so my share was around $400 instead of twice that. That helped a lot.

She told us that the current rate for Friday night was....hold your hat.....the rate was $1,000 for that one night!!!

Are people nuts???

Yes, they are. The town was filled with EDC attendees. Electric Daisy Carnival at the race track. There were more half ass naked ugly young people than I care to see. Shiny blue underwear on big fat asses with the outer clothing optional and everyone was acting like they were hot.

I won't provide a link.

Then $2 steak at the Shoe downtown was the best!

The vegas I lived in and what’s there now are 2 different worlds.

Lots has improved for locals.

The gambling joints and tourist experience is garbage now.

There’s some “magic” that Vegas has lost. Lots of places have gaming, are 24/7. So that aspect of vegas isn’t unique as it was.

The food off strip has improved 10X in the last 10-15 years. For a long time it was bar food. Even the grocery stores were horrible until 2000-2003.

The weather still sucks. Too hot, too cold, too windy. Take your pick!

Traffic? Lol vegas people should come to LA and really see traffic. They just don’t know.

Pool- it’s better than EVER in vegas. Just when I left the big action started. Griff knows how to run a pool room. There’s action. It’s a solid pool city now. It was never bad, but it’s much better. I miss Mary’s room Cuetopia, that was a great joint while she ran it. Bar pool which ain’t my bag is strong in begas as well. Was always pretty strong.

Times change, places change. Vegas ain’t worse or better all things considered. I feel sorry for the tourists-that part of vegas is sadly gone forever.

My flight is delayed 3 hours 🤯

I stuck my head into Binions to see what's changed. 8 deck vs one. Empty tables mostly. Just weird as can be.

I did see a $2 game! $2 minimum AND maximum! No spread. lol

Did I say we got ninth place in the team Open? $205 split 5 ways.

Vegas used to the THE spot to go when your were broke-that’s how I ended up there. Live like a king, eat steak and have fun on the short stack. Was the best.

Now it’s a $2500 weekend. Piss on that, it’s not worth it, no matter how much $ you have.

See ya in Monaco! That’s my new spot BTW

I used to play $1/hand 21 at the Shoe and get comped $5 for dinner. Covered the steak.

The 21 rules were so soft it was hard to lose, yes I got pushed back a few times-but never thrown out of the joint. I did get in trouble at the 4 Queens once. Lol that’s another story.

By 2005 all beatable 21 games disappeared downtown. Never to return. So I don’t play anymore. I miss the short scores-small $ but steady and easy.

I miss phone rooms, that was my jam. Made loads. Vegas made me a millionaire, kinda sounds cool. It’s true, it was very good to me. I still have a 82 door apt building walking distance from the Shoe.

I saw and did everything twice in vegas. Great memories. Knew some of the seedy characters. Or at the least met them at one point or another. The poker players, slot cheats. I know a few guys in the Black Book, the Griffen book as well. Saw a friend win $5M in 20 minutes playing craps one night at the Golden Nugget. Had a 45 year old pay me to bang her(swear on my dads grave-true story) $3500 at the Belliago.

Like I said, I’ve lived life/ if the plane goes down-don’t feel bad for me. Go make a bet!

... acting like they were hot.

I won't provide a link.
Without video it didn't happen. 😋

As for the $82 steaks, I was recently told that casino food service had to keep their food cost to 10% of the price of the meal. Standard in the restaurant industry is 30%. That would make it a nice $27 steak dinner.

When I was there during EDC a few years ago I met some of the hottest young women I've ever seen - they were performers though

Let me find a video...hang on...the videos show the good looking ones....not surprised.

Here's a screen shot of what was walking around town all week:

And damnit, no wonder I was tired, I just tested positive for covid, again.

That's one trip I wish I hadn't made. Ruined a good cue and two shafts and now this.

I'm fine, if anyone cares, just tired. I had it in Nov 2020 so my immunity wore off, fyi.

Most of those women I saw with the feathers and all that marketing stuff on the sidewalks were not that hot, either.

I must too old.

Best wishes, sorry to hear it. The stuff sucks.

Ive had it twice.

Once it was short and real real strong-scary strong.

Second time was weaker than a cold-except I slept 12-14 hours a day. And lost my smell/taste for a few hours.

Was about 18 months apart I’d guess.

No fun,

Vegas can be brutal. I rarely go anymore. 2 times a year for biz and doctor/dentist that’s about it.

I wouldn’t live there again, unless I had a very good reason and that’s very unlikely

I've lived in Nevada for 45 years. First several years I was attracted to LV like any tourist. Since then, avoid everything LV at any cost. I won't even drive through there if I can avoid. Nothing but unpleasant experiences there for me -- crowds, expensive, traffic, crime....

Still, the gambling and tourism pay our taxes (no income tax in NV), so in many ways I'm glad it's there.

Hundreds of thousands of people are attracted to the place each year. More power to them, but count me out.

This time is a breeze.

In fact, about an hour ago I started feeling almost normal. I've been taking Quercitin and zinc. Tomorrow will tell.

My wife had to not go to work. What's she doing? She's a covid tester at the VA. A temp job. lol

So, leaving Vegas, the tsa guy was a dick. He was yelling at some old Asia guy who probably couldn't understand him and I was next in "line." (no lines, just a mob waiting and waiting)

Put your hands up he says as I'm in that radiation thing. I did and he turns a way and yells at the Asian guy again, so I put down my hands and wait. Put you hands up! So, I do it and step out.

The Asian guy is plugging up the exit with 2 carts or something and gets yelled at again, so to help the mob along, instead waiting I just duck under the rope to get my stuff that I haven't seen for over a minute now. Guess what? They don't like that.

Where are you going???

I thought we were done.

Get back here!!!

So, I duck back under the rope as the Asian is still blocking everything.

Put your hands up!

He then starts the sexual assault part of the deal and runs his hands up my crotch and legs.

Turn around. Put your hands up!

He repeats it and when his head was right at my ass, I farted a really one right in his face.

He didn't say a word.

"Hundreds of thousands?" How about dozens of millions.

In 1970, there were 6.7 million visitors to Las Vegas In 2019, this had grown to 42.5 million In 2020.
