Very dissapointed in lee brett. Should be ashamed

Thank you Freddy.

It seems like everyone who has posted is a do-gooder and would never consider sipping the vino.

Would I contribute to him in the future, yes I would.

I hope that Lee is also forgiving when one of you is broken down along the side of the road, and he passes by.

This is the pool world, and the guys who are complaining put 10 sticks in their profile all high end, and come here to ***** about the $10 that Lee had to BEG out of them, I mean he had to beg and beg to get the entry at the last minute.

I don't drink alcohol, but if I did it wouldn't be the night before a major tournament that other people paid my entry for.

Oh please. My eyes just rolled so far back I see my spine.

A flat tire is unlucky.
Getting drunk and not doing the work you were paid for has ZERO to do with luck.
It's a choice, not some random bad thing that happened to him.

You make begging sound like something difficult that we should respect.
It's not. Anybody can do it. And many people have.
It's only hard if you have too much self-respect to do it.

You know what else is hard? Doing the jobs you get PAID to do and doing them well,
then earning enough money to be able to afford those ten cues.

Yeah thats a good one too. He could get a job. One that pays.

Good try kid. Sounds like we caught a few bad rolls. Trust me I know how tough it is for my players to make their matches on time. I hate time and clocks and alarms and makers mark. You should just be able to show up as long as your opponent is somewhere. When's the next event? I want to lock down my 1.75%.

lol you gotta be kidding me. I don't know you and could care less what you think of me but if anyone honestly feels I ripped them off ill gladly refund them.

I was scheduled to play at 8:30 PM on Friday. I showed up at 6 to hit balls because I wanted to at least try. I'm a C player bout to play a world champion... I got no chance winning 5 games, much less winning. I showed up ready to go. And I was drunk. I play better drinking so I drank.

Power goes out and we wait around drinking. When I went to bed I set the alarm on my phone fully intending to play at 10am. I woke up at 11:15am to 15 missed calls and 20 texts. Trust me, I wasn't real happy. I brought two outfits just for this tounament to be funny.

I play on the loser side at 6pm Saturday and I didn't win a game. I had several outs and couldn't make a ball. The crowd loved it. After I lost, I walked outside fully clothed and walked into the swimming pool. (Video coming soon)

If I thought I had a legit shot in a tournament id pay the entry myself and win the money for myself. Asking for money started out as a joke. Great players come on here and can't get staked. But I'm a good person that treats people good and just likes to have fun. The people in put in knew that. They knew I couldn't cash or even win 1 match. They thought it was funny. Also, I payed $140 of the entry myself FYI. A lot of people who put me in are here now and it made them laugh even harder knowing I didn't win 1 game.

But you can continue to dislike me all you want.

Let me guess - he spent half the money on booze and women...and wasted the rest.

I hope Lee keeps us posted on how he gets out of this situation. Watch him hit it big in the casino. I think its his only hope.

That is one genuinely funny video...:D

apparently frost and melling missed their matches today as well because they were too drunk the night (early morning more like) before :P

Im not defending his actions. I think that it's unfortunate that he's hit this low and i would rather he be able to use it as a turning point. My money is a much lesser loss than the cost this action was to him. I don't make much, i think even below the average income, but i don't need to kick someone when they're down. All over a rather insignificant portion of my life that it took to earn it at that. If he flat out stole, you'd better believe I'd be hot.

A few years back, i had a roommate who's friend OD'd and died in his arms. He had the responsibility of telling the family, too. He lost his job, his car and his girlfriend. Depression is what got him. I had to kick him out after a few months because i couldn't pay the rent anymore without his share. It hurt me, but i tried to do what i could for someone that could use the support. I've also had people stiff me for a couple hundred. Guess which im still friends with, the ones that cost me a few hundred or the one that cost me over a grand? Bad circumstances and poor choices don't necessarily make a bad person.

Dorabelle you might well be the smartest poster on AZB. Lee should use the do it/don't do it move.

That was funny as hell though.

I like Lee, he is a very affable guy. But he really should have played his cards closer to his chest in this situation. Manning up is no good if it leaves you with a permanent character blemish.

All that he is guilty of is DREAMING THE AMERICAN DREAM. He is not the first Brit to follow that path, some were successful (Tony Crosby) others including Lee, less so.

At a Valley event in The Riv a few years ago one of our player arrived in Vegas with a battered $10 bill as his only financial asset for a 10 day stopover. He exchanged it for 40 quarters and played solidly from 4 til 4 cheap sets until on day two he managed to raise the stakes playing anyone that would take him on. Rarely losinng in a situation of any consequence he came home to the UK $3500 richer

Maybe Lee should try that or maybe something that I call my '5 minute fix' (it takes about half an hour). Lee has a good basic knowledge of technique, to find grateful pupils. He is genuinely trying to trying to gain some street cred and it is sad that his involvement as a Bonus Ball referee should see him treated so shabilly by BB. That does not reflect well on them.

My advice to Lee Brett would be to get a job, even if it's cleaning toilets and pushing a broom it beats sleeping in your car.

It seems to me Lee has been put into a really bad way with this whole BB deal. I have been in some very tough situations but never had to live out of my car. IMHO, instead of asking for stake money he should have asked for help to get the hell out of Vegas and sought out other employment options. I would have been a lot more inclined to give him some cash for that as opposed to staking him in a pool tournament that he has little chance of winning. No offense Lee ( I bought your DVD) but you seriously need something else to fall back on.

I like this piece. I, for one of the many posters in this thread, did not donate to Lee's fund, so it may not be any of my business to reply here. With that being said, this is an unfortunate situation for everyone involved. I hope this can be used as a lesson that if a similar episode arises later on down the road, we would reference this to help overcome our own hurdles.

To all those that made a contribution, I probably do not know you. However, I hope Mr. Brett will contact each of you individually and make an attempt to remedy the case. Whether it be a refund of your support, or a simple genuine apology... to each their own.

To Lee, whom I also do not know, I hope you are able to recover from these poor decisions and get back on your feet.

Make your luck.

I want to feel bad for Lee, and to an extent I do. He committed to BB and it's not fulfilling its promise, as of 2 WEEKS ago. On the other hand, people here staked him, and he fell short of living up to his end. Bad on him, and he's probably beating himself up harder than anyone.

Unless you're walking in his apparently broken shoes, it's hard to be in his shoes. Lee seems like a good passionate pool person, yet he's in a bad way. I pm'd him late last year when he started a thread @ setting up shop somewhere where he could have access to pool halls to offer lessons and make some money. I said NC ain't a bad place to do so. The man is TRYING IMO to make a living via his passion. I offered to have him stay in my house, indefinitely. This was just before he dodged a Daz right hook I believe, lol. He and Daz kissed and made up, as Brit's apparently often do. Lee soon thereafter chose BB.

I will give him a semi-pass on this, but he gets a demerit. But it's time for him to pull his big boy pants up. But, what do I know? I'm not in his shoes. Wishing you the best Lee. Passion is undeniable and in short supply.

Realistically, his chances of cashing were slim anyway, with the amount of champions in this field. It's sad because he is one of those guys that is talented and has something to offer, so alienating his many supporters on here for a measly tournament entry fee is a terrible waste. I do admire his honesty and openness, though, and I don't think I would have been able to do the same.

I just think we shouldn't be too quick to judge though, as the stories of other players who also ended up drinking themselves out of contention really shows the desperate situation that some of these guys are in with the failure of BB.

They deserve the benefit of the doubt, this time at least.

So far, I know of just two players (Lee Brett and Cleary) who have admitted they were drinking. What other players should we know about?

In the future, if these players can't conduct themselves like professionals, it will be considerably harder for them to find sponsors here on AZB.
