Video of Earl Strickland and Johnny Archer Interview

The problem with 10-ball is that it's just not as "viewer friendly" as 9-ball (I'm basing this on the recent 10-ball championships, which I watched quite a bit of)- call shot, no slop, no 10 on the break, etc. make for a purer game, but not one that's as much fun to watch as 9-ball, imho, and anything that will cause fewer people to tune in isn't helpful to the growth of the sport..

While I may not agree with everything Earl said (I don't know if pool on a 5x10 table with 3 1/2" pockets would be much fun to watch.) I like the fact that he said it. I have always thought he was extremely entertaining to watch in every respect and he is definitely one of my favorite players of all time. There is nothing like watching Earl in his prime throwing it into high gear. Also from that video it looks like he might have lost some weight. If so go Earl!

Earl is my favorite active player and 2nd all time favorite to Luther Lassiter. I would be interested in watching him read the newspaper!

My Earl Strickland Accu-Stats collection gets more valuable everytime he gives an interview!

There's no question that Earl is always entertaining to watch. I would love to see him on top of his game again.

Speaking of Earl on Accu-Stats, do you happen to have his match against Buddy Hall in the semifinals of the Sands Regency Open XII on 12-9-90?

His comment about 5x10s with 3 1/2" pockets probably holds true. I feel either an idea or a brainfart coming. Every time I've come up with an idea for pool people have liked it and would love to see it happen, but this doesn't mean I am still batting a thousand this time. Here it is:

World Elite Series

Each year for men's and women's pool they would be battling through the tournaments to make it to the top ten. The top ten would then be able to compete in five elite series tournaments. The Elite Series tournament rules would all be the same as other tournaments outside of alternating breaks and jump sticks. The difference would be that it would be played on 5x10 foot tables with 3 1/2" pockets and the shot clock would be lengthened. To make this as enticing as possible the payouts would double which is what makes it nearly impossible since it would rely almost entirely on sponsors.

Have you ever LISTENED to a NBA game on TV? If you did you would have heard more MF'ers, BS, f*ck that, and FU's than you can imagine. And I am talking about players like Kobe (DA MAN), Lebron, Garnett, etc. In golf, listen to Tiger (DA MAN)!

GO EARL!!!

Ain't it the truth! And while we're sitting here on a computer talking about pool, scrutinizing the champions of the sport, players like Earl Strickland are out there actually performing their mission, to play championship pool.

It's easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize others. I'd like to see some of the railbirds and keyboard cowboys, who "claim" to like pool, accomplish what Earl Strickland has done. It ain't gonna happen. Therefore, they keep taking potshots at those who can.

Long live Earl Strickland. I am so glad he doesn't post on this forum anymore. :)

Earl's a living legend. He's spot on about playing on a five by ten table - only thing i don't agree with is his stance on jump cues.

I really hope he gets his head together and starts to snap off a few tournaments.

The ONLY thing Earl did wrong is when he was given the opportunity to talk about Johnny, he spoke about himself some more. OTHER than that, Earl did absolutely nothing wrong.

I think that interviewer came down a LITTLE hard on Earl for saying "shit" - which, c'mon.... every single pool player on planet earth says repeatedly. Earl did the right thing to put that interviewer in his place.

Go to a baseball or football game one time and hear what the guys say. If you don't condemn them (which no one ever does), don't shit on Earl for saying "shit."

You don't need to change the equipment. Just change the game from 9-ball to 10-ball. The Diamond Pro Am is the industry standard and they are just fine as is IMO.
yes 9 ball is a joke.
we should play 12 ball.
call pocket.

Not this year. I wanted to see what everybody thought of it at the new place before I went. What did you think, as compared to the exec west?
