Video of Mike Surber's suspected killer!

I run a Crime Analysis Unit for a police department in North Florida. I have a team of analysts that are excellent at filtering through vast amounts of data and coming up with potential suspect identities. That said, this is very difficult to do with just video evidence. Perhaps if there were other details of the case (name, nickname, vehicle, name on stolen credit mentioned in previous post, etc.) then we might be able to do a little digging down here to attempt to identify this guy if he ever appeared in our city or region. If you know of any additional information available or believe that the detective may have more information, please let me know and I'd be happy to do a little digging.

That is very kind of you to offer to invest time into this kind of detail. :)

You should contact the Ocean Springs Police Department and ask for Lieutenant Flowers. His contact info is on the MikeSurber-dot-com website.

He is probably the contact point that needs to coordinate this kind of activity, I would think. I may be wrong.

That said, it sure is nice to see people step up to the plate and offer to help. Thanks again.

Mapman, thanks for your offer. I believe the name on one of the stolen credit cards was Jericho Cooper. The suspect of course is NOt Jericho Cooper. He had given no other name to any one of us at the poolroom.

He did say that he had spent 8 years in prison. If that's true, he didn't say where. Some believe the suspect is from Georgia, although he does not have a southern accent.

The State of Georgia has a good online parolee database, which is able to be used by looking at descriptions, e.g. white male, late 40's, 175 pounds, etc. However the listings are by county, so I've been systematically combing through various county listings, comparing descriptions, then pulling up the person's picture. It's a painstaking process, because there are so many counties. But at least it's something.

Not many states have that online parolee feature. I have a hunch, and only a hunch, that the suspect is from the midwest, or even the west. He could also be from Florida.

Any suggestions you might have, Mapman, would be appreciated. If you'd rather discuss this privately, you can contact me at (228) 896-6616, or at gulfportdoc@yahoo.com

Sounds like you have the right guy on the case in mapman72. If you post the link to the georgia parole database I'll help you browse through the pictures.

The first time I saw a picture I figured ex-con and if he did 8 years I suspect he wasn't in a county jail, most likely state or federal. If you could put together a reward in connection with emailing his picture to every state and federal prison I've got a feeling you would get results. There have to be a lot of people in the prison system who know this guy.

Another option would be emailing his picture to state parole boards for forwarding to parole officers.

Good luck.

Thanks Mapman. Doc has it right. Jericho Cooper was the name on the stolen credit card.
The guy's main modus operandi is going into a place of business and buying drinks on a tab. When it comes time to settle up, the credit card bounces. Also, this fellow likes to talk about his connections with the music industry, at least, that's what I remember. BS artist and con man extraordinaire. Mike Surber was no dummy and didn't let anyone get close to him, especially strangers.

Someone suggested that he may be hiding out on a Mississippi Indian reservation based upon his slight native American looks.

All kinds of information on the guy but no hard information like license or vehicle. That's why if someone sees this guy they need to get his license plate number at least..... the color, type, model etc of the vehicle would be great.

Thanks for offering. Maybe someone else has more information. I can't believe this has gone on this long and still no suspect, NOT EVEN A REAL NAME in sight.

I would guess that the suspect has cut his hair.

One other thing. I think I remember some people looking closely at the photo and determining that he had an earring, maybe in the top part of his ear.
Anyone????

I put this one another website that I am a member of. It is a motorcycle website but some of the guys their play pool. The more we get it out the better chance we have of getting this guy. I sure hope they find him. Thanks to everyone for not letting this die.

I like where you all are going with this. High time for US to find this guy. I like the idea of posting photos at truck stops and contacting prisons everywhere. For all we know he may be incarerated somewhere now.

My question - is there a wanted poster, with photos etc? If there is I want one. I will make copies and do my best to hit truck stops out here, and contact the bureau of prisons in California. SOMEONE knows this guy and will recognize him! The Wanted Poster should include the amount of the reward offered. People will talk when money is invloved!

Mr.surber suspect has a very high recieding hair line, your guy has a very thick and non recieding hair line, but look wise,as in face they are pretty close looking,i know men can wear hair pieces, but i dont think the police would take their picture with him wearing a rug.but this is how this pos is going to get caught, because of people like you and i being very observent!

Good tips, Alstl. You're right-- if he was incarcerated for that length of time it had to have been state or Federal.

The Georgia DOC site is: http://www.dcor.state.ga.us/GDC/OffenderQuery/jsp/OffQryForm.jsp

There are other states that have similar websites. Those who live in KY, TN, FL, AR, IL, IN and western states might check online to their own state's DOC to see if there is a similar search feature available. If so, please let me know. Thanks!

Doc

Could you show us the parameters you used? The link no longer works.

BTW, thanks for your selfless efforts.

Mike would have appreciated your efforts but he still would have beat you in a tournament. He might have given you a few pool tips in your game afterwards if you should an interest in knowing.

I went here....http://www.dc.state.fl.us/absconder/search.asp

Put in the available information. I did the search option with only photos. This option makes it easier to look at multiple people quickly.

James Clark=same initials as Jericho Cooper.

Man, that guy is the right height and weight, too.

The hairline and facial hair matches.

The nose, I'm not so sure. It is hard to tell in that grainy picture.

Thanks!

Isn't it strange that I would have called this offender's hair color brown, instead of gray.... I guess you have to watch those parameters that you key in.

I spent some time this morning, looking at some former inmates from Louisiana.

Nothing popped up right away.

I was thinking about the Wanted Posters. It would be nice to have this guy's picture posted in every sports bar and pool room in the country, it is unlikely that that will happen.

I do know that you can take a photo, pdf file or other "acceptable" file and enter an order online at any KINKO's in the country.

Colored copies are fairly inexpensive and an order for as little as ONE copy can be sent to any Kinko's location and it can be waiting for the recipient at each local Kinko's within 24 hours.

If a WANTED POSTER is laid out with some of the information about the MURDER SUSPECT under his photo, using type of at least 12 points in size, it might be allowed to be posted at different locations around the country, especially, ALABAMA, MISSISSIPPI, LOUISIANA, and GEORGIA, which is primarily where this suspect has been seen.

He could of course have packed it up and moved to Seattle. Nevertheless, maybe someone in these four states might recognize him from the poster and be able to provide information about his identity.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this and I know for most if not all of you, this is secondary or not even a thought in your mind, but THERE IS A REWARD for the capture and conviction of Mike Surber's KILLER.

The hair is kind of straggly similar also..

With product, that straggly hair can be slicked down and pulled back in no time. I know a lot about hair and how to get it to behave.

The eyebrows look the same, in the same position, close to the eyeballs.

Catching this piece of garbage would be the best Christmas present for many of us...I just hope he has the attitude that he wont go back to prison when they finally do catch up with him..The price of a bullet is the blue light special for this trash...lot cheaper than 3 meals & a cot.
