there is a cue on ebay that has the plastic in the butt like dufferen, and brunswick stamped sideways on the other side of the butt. this cue looks like a titlist from the ebay photos. IT IS NOT.
i bought this cue and the forearm is made of ramin wood, and the veneers are not the right colors.i got in touch with the seller and told him i thought it might be a knockoff, but he said he bought it from a brunswick dealer. i got a refund from paypal. so i'm o.k. but this guy reposted it as a real brunswick. be ebay careful

Brunswick has farmed out a lot of their product....so the cue may very well
be a Brunswick made in Asia.
They have cheapened their name a lot.

I've had Brunswicks made by 5 different companies.

Ramin wood tree. Is that where Ramin noodles come from?

Cool anyway, might save someone else from a bit of grief.

I've seen these. They are real Brunswicks and representative of the quality of their day. They've been farming out about all of their manufacturing for years. They got too big for their britches and hasn't given a shit about billiards since Mosconi left the company! Kinda like the BCA!

I like it when you post, Sherm...you give us a lotta good info.
I did not know the Spaeths nearly as well as you....would like to hear
more about Joey and Gary.
I have a sad story about Joey's cue but I don't feel like telling it yet.

As much as people want to joke about it...yes it was used in cheap pool cues...it has been so seriously over-harvested that it is now endangered and protected AFAIK.

the things you can learn from this forum

i believe it was chris hightower that said its the worst wood he ever saw for building cues. i did not know it was a hardwood, but thought it was like bamboo which is a grass and maybe thats where i got the idea. but if i can build a cue with a solid butt made from bamboo, then you can build a shaft from ramin.
chopdoc, maybe thats where ramin got its bad rep, being used for so many cheap import cues, but i still do not think brunswick usa never made a titlist using ramin.

Somewhere in the dark cold recesses of my mind I recall seeing pictures of a Titlist that had different colored veneers, but was IN FACT a real Titlist.

Don't know if this cue was one of them or not ~ haven't seen any pics.

Maybe Chris Tate could chime in???

Russ....
