I voted for Eklent Kaci v. Earl Strickland for singles and Joshua Filler/Eklent Kaci v. Shane Van Boening/Earl Strickland for doubles.

Is there also a women's event this year? Tkach mentioned something about it online but I couldn't tell if she was joking.
There was, but I read on Facebook from a Shane VanBoening post that he believes it was canceled. Not sure how accurate that is, though.

Singles..I voted Earl vs, Albin. If Earl can keep his cool over Albin's slow game, it'll prove he can handle the pressure.

For singles, for pure entertainment value and the chances for seeing the most excitement and fireworks, you would probably want the most arrogant, outgoing, emotional person from each side. For team USA that would be Strickland, and for team Europe that would be Filler.

For doubles, for pure entertainment value, you probably want the offensive shot makers, and you probably want the outgoing and emotional for the best chances of seeing a thriller. For team USA a Strickland/Woodward pairing probably gives the best chance for some excitement as they are both aggressive shot maker types, they have the most passion and intensity on the team by far, and they wear their emotions on their sleeves. For team Europe a Filler/Shaw pairing gives you all those exact same attributes.

Don't know if she was joking but the idea is laughable.

You think American men's pool is in a shambles

Filler against Shane. By Fargo rate, they are the best two players in the world right now.
I think Shane will tend to under perform in this pairing over the long haul. Filler is the one person that Shane legitimately believes is better than him, and who intimidates him. Even more so than with many, Shane's game really seems to go as soon as his confidence slips even a little. The match is still a pretty good idea from the entertainment side since they are neck and neck for #'s 1 and 2 as you point out though, but strategically speaking it is a better idea for Europe than the US. Then you have the fact that Shane doesn't perform as well under the pressure of this setting to begin with. I think Woodward might actually have a better chance against Filler under the specific conditions of this setting and opponent than Shane would.

Where do you get your info LOL? You act as if you and Shane have actually discussed this. You may think and believe this but Shane isn't intimidated by anyone and there is no way he feels Filler is better than him. Laughable observation man

Seems like I had heard something along these lines. Kristina Tkach and Kelly Fisher for Team Europe vs Jennifer Barretta and April Larson for Team USA. Maybe a warm up match at the Mosconi cup? Not sure if it was canceled or not.

I'm selling on this BS. SVB may have a heads record that isn't favorable today, but, that can easily change. Once upon a time Alex was king of rotation games (and everything else) until a young Def Jam came after him relentlessly. He and Shane's record heads up today may not reflect (I don't have the stats) what it once did, but, I'm pretty sure that in all games, Alex is still the most feared player with SVB and DO shortly behind.
Filler's magical aura seems to be fading as of late, not so unbeatable making everything all the time anymore...

That would be like me and my league buddy taking on a couple low level pros.

I agree with you, but, that's not exactly what I mean...
Alex has a little of that Efrenness... For a long long time now Efren hasn't been the favorite, yet I promise you there is still a little fear or concern for lack of a better term in every opponent he faces... Alex has that and can still perform at the highest level, especially one hole.
I don't think Filler has players fear or respect for that matter like Efren, Alex, SVB, and DO, so much as most of them wanna beat the snot outta that kid...
I'll say this, Filler is showing that he is committed to the game and trying to improve that snotty attitude. I hope he stays on this track, if he does, he'll make a fan out me yet..
Let's go USA!!!! crap, we're gonna need all the pool gods to win this one. LOL.
