The knocking needs to be given a break... Someone mentions a player and knockers seem to pour out of the woodwork...

DeChaine, Borana, Emily are only the latest 3... If you have been guilty of this, you know who you are, your mothers would be ashamed...

The cool thing about this game is it's about the journey for 99.9% of us and not the destination... Only a handful of players will ever be world class.. A few more may end up pro speed... So why would we continue to measure everyone by speed?

I have met many many players over the years.. The one thing it takes to earn a modicum of respect from me is having passion for the game..

This is not an easy game. Regardless of what some think not everyone will ever make it past just running a few balls.

Why should this matter to ANYONE if they are having fun and continue to patronize the rooms that need us all these days to keep their doors open....

Pool is a game you can enjoy pretty much for your whole life... It allows people from all walks of life and of all ages to interact in something that they can all be passionate about REGARDLESS of how good anyone thinks they play....

Bash the leagues... Bash the league players... You might as well bash yourself in the head while you are at it... Without them the game is finished and you'll be playing on a table in your basement because that's the only place you will be able to find one....

Bash the women pros, Bash the women amateurs... Just because they don't play as well as you THINK they should if they are getting attention... Wake the f up.... Keep your mouth shut and let them enjoy what they are passionate about... No one comes to your job or posts crap on the McDonald's website about how you suck at asking if someone wants fries with their meal......

Bash the male pros... Bash the guys who actually have the courage and drive to get out there on the road and try and make it in a sport where we all know the odds of making it hovers barely above zero... We know the stories of the old road players.. Like Fast Eddie told us long ago safe players die broke TOO don't they Burt... These guys are doing something that their passion for the game has driven them to... Don't even pretend to be able to sit at your keyboard in judgement when most of you likely won't play in regional tournaments if you have to spend gas money and foot a hotel bill for a night or 2....

For those of you that still think you play well enough to throw whatever stones you feel fit to throw... Give it a break and use that energy to do something constructive... Go to your local room and help some newer players... Give them your numbers and go play with them if they call.. Quit trying to figure out how you can move to get into their wallets today There will be way more fish to fry if you quit trying to feast on minnows and help them along their journey....

Maybe this was a total waste of time and pixels... I don't really care at this point... As far as I am concerned I'm rooting for everyone in this sport... The more of us who make it the more chances there will be in the future for even more of us or at least for those who come behind.....

Well put Chris! I'm also sick of the "HATERS" who hide behind their screen names knocking the folks who actually put it all out there for us. If you don't have something positive to say, most of the time, it's better to keep your trap shut and not let everyone know just how stupid you actually are.

VERY well said.

Sadly, I don't expect it to be taken to heart by those to whom it applies...

well said. i have many of same thoughts when reading some of the hate i see spewed on here.

Very well said but unfortunately I don't see it stopping. Some people seem to get enjoyment out of putting others down. Hope everyone's having a wonderful Easter

More and more I find myself logging on, checking my PM's. Seeing what's for sale and logging off.

So much negative crap in the main forum it just drags me down. I've been here forever and I am hesitant to post most of the time due to the anticipation of the haters hating.

I couldn't agree more with this...

"Pool is a game you can enjoy pretty much for your whole life... It allows people from all walks of life and of all ages to interact in something that they can all be passionate about REGARDLESS of how good anyone thinks they play...."

Thanks for this post!

So on an open forum I shouldn't express my opinions unless there only positive and happy. Maybe in communist china but here in the good old u s of a your free to say what you choose . Specially on a public forum. I may not agree with them but you telling people what they should or shouldn't type is worse then Some of the bs people are typing. lol maybe a public forum isn't for you

There is a difference between having "a difference of opinions" and being a knocker, and I think that you know that. (I don't consider you a knocker, from what posts of yours I recall...)

Every time I see you, Sherm, I don't know why, but I always think of this ---> HERE

Keith and I played this song a lot en route, driving to Glass City Open in Toledo. I just enjoyed chanting "Ohio, Ohio, Ohio."

Good grief we have a lot of damocrats on here.
Want to reform entitlements so they are solvent? You hate old people.
Don't want to grant amnesty and citizenship to illegal felons? You hate evryone who isn't white.
You don't think my aiming system is the best thing ever? You hate people who want to get better at pool!
You don't think player X is as great as they think they are or are overrated by others? You hate player X!

Most people are capable of disliking something, disagreeing with someone, or having a difference of opinion on a matter without hating.
Calling someone a hater is the new anthem of the butthurt.

Many have said they wish those players the best despite their disagreements. That isn't hate folks.

The knocking needs to be given a break... Someone mentions a player and knockers seem to pour out of the woodwork...

Unfortunately, it's not just limited to players. The tag-team mentality, to include creating multiple identities to defend a friend, creating polls that pit one against another, well, I've seen it all.

People say, "Ah, it's just the Internet. No big deal." Well, I'm here to tell you that permanent damage has been caused by some of the happenings on this forum. It's not all just fun and games to some members. :frown:

There is a reason why some industry members and pro players do not post here. The industry members that do post here may want to get a message out there about a product, an event, et cetera, but you don't see too many of them spending a lot of time on AzBilliards Discussion Forum.

Thanks so much for posting this. that was very well put and i wish people would hear and not just listen.

AMEN, Chris

Wake up already

I agree wi what Chris said.

You can disagree with anything or anybody - but there is a respectful way to do that.

I also 'hate' posters that did not read the thread they are posting in.

This should be about pool and how to make the game better.
Opinions are like as***les - everyone has one.

Just try to be factual and respectful - then all will be fixed - lol!

Your right I don't knock how anyone plays...but I just don't get so upset at people who post stuff that I don't agree with or people that are always negative. I move on

I will agree with you completely! Pool should be a passion for a player. Their color, sex, nationality,Religious belief, income, or any other measure for that matter is inconsequential. It is the melting-pot for recreation IMO.

Me: I couldn't throw a pebble in a hurricane compared to some in this forum, or even some of the pool-halls I attend. I sincerely hope that no-one ever gets offended by my light-hearted attempts at humor here.

Unfortunetly, public forums are a microcosm of life. That said; nothing should be taken too seriously concerning emotion.

Great post ! Rep 4 U

As a second hobby, I train barrel racing horses. Forty years ago when I first became interested in horses, my first thought was to find a respected and knowledgeable horseman and learn from him.

At several sales we would look at all the horses and in an effort to impress him I would pick out the faults of certain horses and explain the reason I would not buy them. After several sales and maybe his being tired of my assessments, he made a profound statement that has guided me since: "Joe, it's easy to pick out faults in a horse but until you can look at one and say that's a good one --- you aren't a horseman."

So why would you want to talk about poor pool players when there are good ones to learn from???
