The knocking needs to be given a break... Someone mentions a player and knockers seem to pour out of the woodwork...
DeChaine, Borana, Emily are only the latest 3... If you have been guilty of this, you know who you are, your mothers would be ashamed...
The cool thing about this game is it's about the journey for 99.9% of us and not the destination... Only a handful of players will ever be world class.. A few more may end up pro speed... So why would we continue to measure everyone by speed?
I have met many many players over the years.. The one thing it takes to earn a modicum of respect from me is having passion for the game..
This is not an easy game. Regardless of what some think not everyone will ever make it past just running a few balls.
Why should this matter to ANYONE if they are having fun and continue to patronize the rooms that need us all these days to keep their doors open....
Pool is a game you can enjoy pretty much for your whole life... It allows people from all walks of life and of all ages to interact in something that they can all be passionate about REGARDLESS of how good anyone thinks they play....
Bash the leagues... Bash the league players... You might as well bash yourself in the head while you are at it... Without them the game is finished and you'll be playing on a table in your basement because that's the only place you will be able to find one....
Bash the women pros, Bash the women amateurs... Just because they don't play as well as you THINK they should if they are getting attention... Wake the f up.... Keep your mouth shut and let them enjoy what they are passionate about... No one comes to your job or posts crap on the McDonald's website about how you suck at asking if someone wants fries with their meal......
Bash the male pros... Bash the guys who actually have the courage and drive to get out there on the road and try and make it in a sport where we all know the odds of making it hovers barely above zero... We know the stories of the old road players.. Like Fast Eddie told us long ago safe players die broke TOO don't they Burt... These guys are doing something that their passion for the game has driven them to... Don't even pretend to be able to sit at your keyboard in judgement when most of you likely won't play in regional tournaments if you have to spend gas money and foot a hotel bill for a night or 2....
For those of you that still think you play well enough to throw whatever stones you feel fit to throw... Give it a break and use that energy to do something constructive... Go to your local room and help some newer players... Give them your numbers and go play with them if they call.. Quit trying to figure out how you can move to get into their wallets today There will be way more fish to fry if you quit trying to feast on minnows and help them along their journey....
Maybe this was a total waste of time and pixels... I don't really care at this point... As far as I am concerned I'm rooting for everyone in this sport... The more of us who make it the more chances there will be in the future for even more of us or at least for those who come behind.....
