Wanted / For Sale section - *yawn*.....

OK, it's been a while now, I feel like I gave it a real chance and maybe it's just me, but I really hate the Wanted / For Sale section. I understand the reason for the change and I don't disagree, but it's hard for me to even bring myself to look at that forum anymore. I could often find some needed resources there just from reading the conversations, but any more that forum is so boring it's difficult to look at. There has to be a better way.

I like the Facebook groups better for buying and selling. They're just a simpler interface, easily searchable, and nobody can hide behind anonymity.

I agree - I rarely visit that part of the forum.

Amazingly, I'll check ebay or amazon before I look for a product in the wanted for sale section.

But I understand that a forum has to be organized, because if it was all thrown in the same pot really good threads would get lost in the shuffle really fast.

Although it is boring, now it's like the classifieds in other forums.
The W/FS would be twice as boring if they would of gone with the sub-forums that some idiots concocted.
The feature that blocks the ability for others to post accomplished what it was designed
for, and it eliminated the need for guys to play forum cop / hall monitor, thus eliminating a lot of aggravation to all.
I understand that it was fun, and some of the cues posted whether good, bad, or ugly,
deserved some banter once and a while.
The problem is the cheaters, and most of them are too stupid to understand what they did to us.
I would like to name them, but I wont.

well to be honest, at least when you could comment before it allowed the more knowledgeable people to speak and weed out the scammers. I know it also allowed alot of other people to comment as well but that is one thing that was a positive.

Looks like nothing ever sells. Same stuff bumped for months and prices never dropped.

That was going on long before the changes. Yes, I checked in the for sale threads every day. Rather than drop their prices, they just kept bumping hoping for a sale that never came.

No dis-respect to those that love and deal in the very high end cues, but how many are ever sold or traded compared to the cues that the average player can afford to wheel and deal in? My opinion is that there should be 2 different "For Sale" sections. One for the higher end stuff, maybe $500 and over. The other for the same number and under.
I feel it would make it more enjoyable to browse either section.
Just my .02
:D

What I was most confused about was why they didn't just allow comments but install a mod that allowed the OP to bump the thread but keep the comments from bumping the thread.

That or an auto bump feature that disabled the comments from bumping the thread and auto bumped the thread after a set period of time like 48 hours.

This would have paved to way for some to pay for say a more frequent bumping thread. IE gold members would auto bump every 24 hours...etc.

I agree... I really disliked the bump by all the "buddies" out there telling us how those cues played lights out, or what a great deal the seller was giving, especially on a cue that was up for sale for MONTHS.

But if they wanna make the comments that does not put the sale back to the first page, that's cool... but you will see a LOT less comments ;)

Yeah, I really miss my listing getting pushed to page 4 within an hour because "knowledgable posters" would bump other peoples' listings with informative posts like "Nice cue!" and "I wish I had the money to buy it!"

Then people would start threads just to post links over to the conversation.
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but there is a handful of some prolific sellers or
so-called dealers, trunk monkeys, that will look for any angle they can to keep their
crap out in front of people.
These guys are STILL figuring out ways to cheat their way around the 48-hour bump rule.
Based on the level of marketing geniuses we have on AZ Billiards, the only way to fix
the problem was to cut it off completely, just the way they did it.
Unfortunately it's boring and it put us back in the pack with everybody else, but you
can thank about a dozen people for this.

Have a nice day>>

Under the old system, you post a cue and the next say is is 6 pages back. Not good. Most comments other than spec questions were not necessary and are not revelant to the sale. This not only bumped the cue but penalized others.

I do think there should be a separation between production cues, custom yes, and misc other. I think the new foremat is a great improvement, however, I hardly go the the section any more. Why? I start with new posts. This covers all forums so I see what new id FS. The reason I do not go there much is there has been nothing of interest to me in quite awhile.

Product would cure your complaints.

If you guys think it's boring now, wait until it gets diluted even more, again with sub-forums.
Of the 20-30 members in the wanted/for sale section at any given time, it might break down like this on a good day:

9 members in custom cues over.......... $950
5 members in custom cues under.........$950
2 members in production cues over.......$400
2 members in production cues under.....$400
2 members in cue cases over.............. $350
3 members in cue cases under.............$350
1 members in DVD's............................any pricing
1 members in cue accessories not to exceed $45.00

Looks like nothing ever sells. Same stuff bumped for months and prices never dropped.

Everyone thinks they are a cue dealer, Everyone thinks their cue is worth
retail ++ and your cue is worth less than wholesale.

That is the problem. Most of what is on there is overpriced regurgitated firewood.

I am to the point to where I would rather give the cue maker all the money
for his cue and wait for it than give any of these jackoff$ a dime in profit.

I hear you on that. Why buy someone else's custom order?

The market is so diluted now anyway that you shouldn't be buying unless you want to play with it. Investment cues are few and far between right now.

This is strictly informational, but I probably get 5-8 emails a week asking for help appraising or selling people's cues. Many who have been out of cues for awhile generally (and genuinely) don't understand where the market went...

The WFS section has sucked for years. The members are to blame for that initially, not the administrators. Now it sucks in a different way due to changes that were made in response to how it sucked before...

I tried to sell a nice cue here last spring. I started at $500 and over a week-ten days I dropped the price to $350. Still didn't sell, went on Ebay and got $350. Saw the same cue posted recently posted here for.....$650!
