Wanted / For Sale section - *yawn*.....

WFS section

Straight up the WTS section is dead......................................................
Who what when where and why is no longer important, what is important is something is done to breath life back into the WFS.

Not everyone who bumps a thread is being dishonest, some people are just impressed by how the cue looks or how its made.
Some people or members have never seen the level of workmanship that goes into some of these cues.

I have had several of my threads bumped because the members liked how I photographed my cues.

Some members tell you how badly you spelled the name of the wood the cue was made out of.

There are the honest people who just like saying nice cue, and there is no reason why someone shouldn't be able to give a stranger a compliment.

The wanted for sale section had tons more action 4 years ago, why not change it back to the rules that it had then and see if it doesn't come alive again.

My vote is buy American products, support the American craftsman,
And let the members talk freely in the wanted for sale section.

people are greedy... that is all.

It really goes beyond that imo. There are some cues now that use to be in favor 10 years or more ago that seem to not be sellers at any price, even a very cheap, fair price. Others it's like you have to pay someone to take it, lol.

Terry the world is full of Jerks !!!! Yes now the For Sale Section is Worthless .

I completely understand why the changes were made. That doesn't mean I have to like it. But the "For Sale" section definitely lost it's luster. Not nearly as fun as used to be. I really enjoyed the conversations. But now, it's strictly business. I don't and won't go there nearly as much as I used to. Sucks to me. :) Just my opinion.

I absolutely hate the changes..................

I for one like the new rules. I pop in several times per day and can see what has been posted. It takes me about 2 minutes to review and see if there is anything of any interest. Spend your time making comments in the main forum and not worrying about bumping your friend's thread. Use it for what it was made for which is to buy and sell cues. Most people who don't like the changes were the main culprits who over bumped. Things are selling because people are stupid on their prices. I've bought on here for awhile now and made money on 1 cue. I've lost on all the rest but I got to try them and see if I liked them. I'm with the others that I mostly just order from cuemakers now and skip the used cues but I still like to check and see if anything new has been posted. It is a free country and as long as they wait 48 hours to bump, they can ask what they want. If they get broke enough, the prices will come down.

I know it is just my opinion on the changes but I think there are a lot of other out there that feel the same way. Good job to the moderators for getting right.

I guess everyone has their own opinions, but I just wanted to say that I love the new rules. It is a place to buy, sell, and trade billiard related goods. Plain and simple. I'm on the forum more now that I don't have to read through all of the comments that have absolutely nothing to do with selling the item in question.

If I am looking for something in particular, it's easy to use the search function. If I have a question, it's easy to pm the person. I'm really not sure what the big deal is. If I liked the way someone's cue looks, or I like the photos taken, then I can still pm the person and let them know. Is it that big of a deal for everybody else to see my comments? I think not.

Some members tell you how badly you spelled the name of the wood the cue was made out of.

I won't even mention the Cue makers name that still calls CocoBolo as Cocabola.

He is a great guy. Our late night jam sessions might start off at 12 am and last for who knew when. But, he always made me laugh when he said that name.

No biggy.

People still know what a person means if the word isn't 100%.

Cocabola Cowboy is the one that I will never be able to figure out tho.

Mike is still open for suggestions if someone comes up with ideas that might work.

This all came about because a few sellers were skirting the Rules and disrespecting other sellers in that Forum.

I agree that some of the comments were quite often educational. We did lose that part.

Funny how that happens eh. So many complaints and when they did something about it, people are still complaining.

So, start brainstorming instead of complaining and PM Mike your ideas. Or start a Thread.

Like I must have mentioned at least a 100 times, I haven't found navigating the Sale Forum that hard. I use the Search Function or just Click back 25 pages if I have to.

You could make a compromise. Some people sell more items than others. If you are a Power Seller, you could be required to be Gold, or some other Paid Status. Another way might be, if item does Sell, you owe a small percentage or Fee to AZ. That way you could skip having to be either Gold or a Paid Seller just to sell one item. If it doesn't sell, you owe nothing.

In Canada, we have a site called, Used Everywhere. Mine is Used Regina. Advertising is free, but for a small fee, your add will be more visible, in that they will be the ones that show up on the first few pages.

Allow a bit more leeway. If someone is obviously abusing privileges and messing with other Sellers, give a visible Warning.

Next time will get your Ads pulled for a week or two.

The way it is at the moment, the Sale Forum requires a No Hands On moderation.

So, it's good for the Owners and Mods, not good for people that would like to see changes in it presently.

But that is why Mike mentioned previously, if you have any ideas, bring them forth instead of just saying, "I don't like it".

More than one way to skin a cat.

the new "rules" work as intended

the playing field is level

Yep, the abusers have been neutered. snip, snip

Now what they do is make 8 threads for 8 pieces of similar worthless $hit and
bump all 8 threads every 2 days.

At least some ethics would have 1 thread with all 8 items in it.

The market is such now where the wisdom of only buy what you are
not afraid to keep
shows itself in aces.

I totally disagree with you.

The wanted for sale changes have both happened at Christmas time................
Both times a restriction was put into place NO NEW PRODUCTS.......................

The big billiard supply companies and the big production cue makers who buy the banners have decided that the Wanted for sale section is in competition with them.
The changes are all about Money.
Why else would they restrict the sales of new billiard related products from being posted ..........................................................................................

Members breaking the rules is moderated never in any other section of this forum is everyone in the section punished for other members breaking the rules,.

If some one was over bumping it was the moderators job to delete there thread.
Not shut down the section where watching paint dry might be more interesting.

The changes were made because it is a marketing strategy.

The official marketing strategy rule book has been opened and the advertisers
are going page by page and play by play.
And the small time cue flippers will soon be history.

We could always go back to Pango.
Pango was a trunk monkeys paradise, and perfect for the flea-bay / Craigslist element.
I still get emails from Pango asking me if I sold the cue, as if it's any of their business...maybe it is

Mike, if this is the case, and you know it to be 100% true, I would suppose that there is diddley that you can do about it.

No amount of threads is going to change it.

Then people would start threads just to post links over to the conversation.
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but there is a handful of some prolific sellers or
so-called dealers, trunk monkeys, that will look for any angle they can to keep their
crap out in front of people.
These guys are STILL figuring out ways to cheat their way around the 48-hour bump rule.
Based on the level of marketing geniuses we have on AZ Billiards, the only way to fix
the problem was to cut it off completely, just the way they did it.
Unfortunately it's boring and it put us back in the pack with everybody else, but you
can thank about a dozen people for this.

Have a nice day>>
Well starting a thread in the For Sale section for any other reason than to sell a cue should be against the rules.

So with that said just take it out of the hands of the community. Install an auto bump mod that will allow us to posts in these threads without it bumping the thread.

The reason this makes the most sense is it opens the door for AZ to raise some money by offering additional benefits to those who want them.

For example.

The default auto bump will be set at every 72 hours.

If you're a Gold Member your default auto bump will be every 48 hours.

If you wish to pay a dollar for your thread you will auto bump every 24 hours for 30 days. Which you can renew twice(at a dollar each) or until the cue sells.

So you know, more feature and benefits rather than less.

There should also be sub forums dedicated to those who wish to have their own forum. That could be for cue brokers or cue makers. IE Jim Pierce's Corner or cuesblues storefront. Where you can create threads or add pictures to a gallery. Most places charge around 200 a year for a sub forum. This way people can follow just what you're selling or in the case of a cue maker...what they're working on.

I'd buy one.

To bad

It is a shame I loved going onto the Sale forum and seeing and reading legitimate opinions and facts about the items. The real shame is 5-6 people ruined it all by bumping each other's items with the same ridiculous comments to stay on page one.writing " I can't believe this cue hasn't sold yet?" or " cheap price on such a hard to get cue "
It is comments like these that add no value to the item for sale and when you see the same group doing it over and over it is aggravating especially to those who are trying to sell something without playing games. Now everyone who played by the rules suffer while the guilty parties all jumped over to Facebook.

In that the threads I joked about would be started to draw a link to a thread about a cue sale, technically it would still be about a cue sale.
Questionable if it is within the rules, but it is.
I remember back when AZ gave raffles a separate sub-forum because they were
taking up so much space in the main wanted / for sale.
People started threads in the "for sale" section posting links to their raffles.
It is always surprising to see slimy marketing techniques in this genre.

You are also right-on that there should be a "cuesblues storefront"
AZ should jump on that one>>

I agree whole heartedly. They took it from an incredibly fun forum and turned into an incredibly boring classified ad. Mission accomplished.

I personally would love it if the mods implemented some iteration of Bishop's suggestion - let people comment all they want, but make it so that those comments don't bump the thread and you'll get rid of all the shills while making the forum fun again in one fell swoop. I think that would be a really great step in the right direction, as I always loved seeing all the comments that you can still find in old threads.
