I am looking for information on Qpod and other chalk holders. I have done NUMEROUS searches and nothing! With the Xmas holiday nearing I am in the purchasing mode! But, hate buying sight unseen and with out answers to the following questions??? If anyone has experience and could answer these questions on the Qpod or the Sterling silver version advertised on this site or the wooden one. I would greatly appreciate it!

#1. Is the chalk holder SLIPPERY or textured for grip???
#2. Does the chalk holder have good weight and feel GOOD???
#3, Does the chalk holder have a NO SLIP botttom or slides off table???
#4. Is the item FRAGILE or prone to chipping and damage???
#5. Does it cause GLARE due to its shiny finish and presence under the lights???
#6. Does it hold the chalk or fall out???
#7. Is there a spring on bottom pushing the chalk to the openning???
#8. Do they have serial numbers???
#9. Are they limited production, 1 of 1 or Mass production???
#10. Does it keep your pants/cloths/pockets clean???
#11. Can you put it in your pocket and the pocket stay clean???

With no reviews on these NEW items and no personal experience with them. I am left with asking AZB members for help in my purchasing decision.

I have tried the CHALKER versions that dangle out of your pocket and smear chalk on your pants at the open side! I have a plastic qpod that is CHEESY to say the least and want something nice enough to keep for a LIFETIME!!!

Sincerely,
KD

The qpod is a luxury type item. No plastic. No springs. They are open on top so it does have the potential to get chalk on your clothes if you put it in your pocket.

I like this style of chalk holder (pocket chalker) but without the small hole.

My preference is the entire top of the chalk cube exposed.
I made my own chalker with a deer antler, braided leather
strap and the bottom half of a plastic Master chalk holder.
Master fits snuggly. Some chalks might need tape buildup.

The antler fits in my pocket with the chalk cube exposed.

I did not mean to imply qpod is plastic with springs!

I have one of these pictured in the link below and want something nicer!

https://www.cuepower.co.uk/master-chalk-holder-p-1344.html?zenid=ij77v4ovrbggvdclt0p5aegbq6

it is a two piece design that keeps pocket clean and still allows you to chalk up!!!

Based on your comment, the qpod is a one piece design with top fully exposed or bottom exposed and it is possible for the chalk to fall out when using the hole on top to access the chalk in the case when you want to chalk up and store the cube in your pocket without getting chalk all over your pocket? If I am understanding you correctly???

Custom 3D printed design.

FAST & LOOSE DESIGNS!

Excellent work, perfect fit! Slightly textured finish (enough it's not slippery, but it's still smooth) heavy, made from stainless steel, stays in place where ever you set it down!

(Thanks again Chris!)

kid;

sorry I was too lazy to open the links provided showing what products you were seeking info on but I did want to pop on to suggest you consider the automatic-retractable chalk holders that clip to your pants, beltloop, or belt.

pull it out, chalk up, and drop it and it hurries back to the mothership.
tsno dirty pants (outer), no dirty pant pockets, no chalk growing legs, and no contamination from shifty opponents.

and they're like fifteen bucks or so at seyberts, muellers, etc.

http://www.seyberts.com/products/Euro_Heavy_Duty_Retractable_Chalker-103666-73.html

there's a version at meullers that is about $6, however, the retractable cords eventually breaks after a few months so if you decide to go this route, I'd suggest getting 3 or 4. ;) I always keep an extra one in my case.

best,
brian kc

It's not nearly as stylish as the qpod but the best chalk holder I've used is the one made by cuetec. It is the stick style. The stick is long so you won't lose it in your pocket. The fit on the chalk is snug. The connector between the stick and cube is metal rather than string so it's sturdy. I suppose it could theoretically get the outside of your pocket dirty that hasn't been my experience.

#1. Is the chalk holder SLIPPERY or textured for grip??? Absolutely Textured
#2. Does the chalk holder have good weight and feel GOOD??? It's like it isn't even there
#3, Does the chalk holder have a NO SLIP botttom or slides off table??? Only if alcohol is involved
#4. Is the item FRAGILE or prone to chipping and damage??? No it's fairly rugged
#5. Does it cause GLARE due to its shiny finish and presence under the lights??? Only after a visit to a metrosexual salon
#6. Does it hold the chalk or fall out??? As tightly as you like - its adjustable
#7. Is there a spring on bottom pushing the chalk to the openning??? Not as such, its more pneumatic than anything else
#8. Do they have serial numbers??? Im sure the NSA would love that, but no
#9. Are they limited production, 1 of 1 or Mass production??? Afraid its unique, but Im told others have their own version
#10. Does it keep your pants/cloths/pockets clean??? Sure does
#11. Can you put it in your pocket and the pocket stay clean??? Yes indeed, unless its holding a piece of chalk at the time

Awesome question....

Ive had my Chalker for 44 years and it shows only mild signs of wear and tear.

I picked up two of those back in the 50's, one for each hand.
Since I chalk with the same hand that I shoot photo's with, I can't take a chalker selfie>>

IMO the attached link is great holder for people that their Waistline (belt line) is above the rail naturally or their stance (their back is not bent all the way and head touching cue) (tall a bit)
http://www.amazon.com/Sterling-Sports-Magnetic-Chalk-Holder/dp/B000WQ3CJI

I had both a chalk holder as well as a chalk applier.

However, in this bad economy, I unfortunately had to let both fellows go.

I think sometimes we tend to over think stuff on forums. It's chalk and it's supposed to stick to stuff.

Perhaps wear a glove or wash your hands more often. This ain't rocket science.

I think chalk holders are cumbersome and add weight and don't allow for painting the tip as well.

I just use the Kamui leather chalk holder to store the chalk when I'm done on playing. During play, I'll usually just hold the chalk on put it on the rails.
