Ok, so Im in the APA national and Im walking through the vendors area in the first day of the 8-ball tourney. I had been in Vegas for 4 hours. I see Kelly Fisher at a table with 50 people around it, and went to investigate. I find out that you pay $20 and play her. She signs autographs, gives you a T-shirt, and pics with her. Very cool. Had never met a pro. So I pay my $20 and wait my turn. When it came, they had been calling for a fellow to take his turn, he didnt show so I went to the table. Sure enough he pops up to take his turn, I step aside and let him take his turn. She runs two racks of 8 ball and I step to the table. She signing the fellows cue or something and asks me what I would like to play. I say "whatever" and she suggests 9-ball.
I agree and rack the balls. She says jokingly "If you make the 9 Im racking".
I laugh and break the balls, and what happens? I snap the nine. Every one cracked up. She racks the next game. I break, make a ball, and am left rough on the 1. I bank out and miss. Kelly steps to the table and plays a safe that she missed leaving me the edge of the 1. I cross bank th 1 from the side to the corner. make it and run the rest of the rack. Everyone cheering and laughing, and Kelly says that shes done and she will be back at 6pm. I get prizes and take a pic with her and walked away in total shock. Very cool experience. The reason Im telling the good people of AZ about this is because I want to read some of your stories pertaining to similar events and outcomes. Thanks for reading.

Congratulations, enjoy you moment in the lime light there is certainly nothing better for your confidence, how did you do during the rest of the tournament?

Kelly is a great sport, and just fun to be around. We've shared more than a couple of cold ones at the local pool room, and between her and Val, your sides usually hurt at the end of the night from laughing.

Enjoy your victory. They are few and far between when playing against her.

Steve

We are pretty lucky here in charlotte, kelly and val finnie and sometimes kim shaw are at all of our apa city tournys. and they do the same thing with playing them and different contests. They are down to earth and really good people and joke around with everybody or just to talk to.

Dépiler product?

Thread title: Wanted to share a neet experience. - Today, 04:33 PM

A Neet experience -- isn't that describing the use of a product that the ladies use to remove hair from unsightly places?

J/K! Congrats -- it feels great when good things just fall like rain on your head, doesn't it?

Congrats again!
-Sean

It's very cool!

I guess its not that cool.

My experience is this:

I played Ronnie Allen and Roy Futternick in the 1979-80 Rocky Mountain Open. Doulble Elim, that was a quick goodbye!! I got one shot with Roy and 3 with Ronnie. Lost 9-3 both times. I will never forget that experience even though I wasn't as successful as you. Congrats! :)

That is an awesome story. I have one i guess sort of similar but definitely not as cool. It was my first pool tournament and I was still basically learning how to play competitive pool. Well I beat the first guy, who won the tournament the week before, then had to play one of the best players in North County supposedly. The guy that brought me to the tournament told me to just have fun and not expect much. Well the other guy won the flip for the break and I told my buddy "8-ball break and scratch." Sure enough it happens. THE END.

Nice shooting!!

I was on Allison Fisher's team for the Pro Am at the San Diego Classic I think in 2008. Our team won and we won a bunch of free stuff. It was pretty cool and still remember it today.

I played Willie Mosconi an exhibition match in the early 60's. I made a few , he made a few then he ran 85 perfect balls out. I may not have turned in a great performance as a pool player but as a rack boy i was world class.

I had a similar experience with Alison Fisher last year. Her autographed picture is on the wall of my pool room. She's on the wall above Janette Lee and Ewa Lawrence, as she's the only one I got to play. She beat me.

BCA a few years back I sat front row rudely munching on a hot dog during Jenifer Chen's match. I think it was a chili cheese dog. I had to tilt my head to keep the chili from falling. I guess she got a kick out of me being such a jerk during her match because she smiled. Right before she broke, I dropped my bag of ruffles...I looked at her and lipped "sorry" and she chuckled. Nice personality. I think earl might have put a few lumps on my head. j/k

Hey Mr. AlmostGood, you should change your handle to DarnGood after beating Kelly Fisher. That must have been quite an experience - certainly one you'll enjoy for years to come. $20 well spent. And;, by the way, thanks for sharing.

At the end of a group lesson with Nick Varner we all got to play one game of nine ball with him. I broke and made two nice positional shots and then the three nine combo.

Nick shook my hand and said, "Thanks for the lesson."

Mike Massey borrowed my guitar to play gospel music. I scammed 5 tickets to play against him even though it was supposed to be 1 per customer and I never got drawn to play :(

"CreeDo" plays a part in the remake of the movie, Crossroads, starring Mike Massey?

So you were going to "play [guitar] against Mike Massey"? Sounds to me like the movie, "Crossroads". Would Mike Massey be the character of "Jack Butler" and you would be that of Eugene?

Or how about...

CreeDo went down to Georgia, he was looking for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind: he was willin' to make a deal.
When he came across this young man pickin' on a guitar and playin' it hot.
And CreeDo jumped upon a hickory stump and said: "Boy let me tell you what:
"I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a guitar player too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you play a pretty good guitar, boy, but give CreeDo his due:
"I bet a guitar of gold against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The boy said: "My name's Mike Massey and it might be a sin,
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best that's ever been."

:D
