Was it slop, or was it intentional?

didn't read all the comments but my money is on the 9. He gave no indications he was going for the side or that shot, not one time did he take a look at what was possible should he put both balls on the long rail like i think most players do. Sounds crash but my money is on lucking in the 9 with the same two way intentions.

One more in on the pre pay.
Maybe an autographed copy as an incentive for pre pay?

Maybe that is him lining it up at 7:03

slop

I watched this a million times. I agree he wasn't going for the three railer.

What it really looked like is he was playing safe, with the possibility that it might go off the 9 ball into the corner. At 7:35 to 7:40 it shows him trying to figure out where he wants to play the cue ball to get safe. Note that his cue is lined up from the bottom left corner to the top right corner. He's looking at where he wants to be to get behind the 7 ball. He figured it would hit the 9 and either go in or the 9 would kill the ball so he got the hook.

If he was considering a three railer in the side he would've probably indicated that at some point, but more assuredly he would've been looking up the side rail when determining the 'safety zone'.

Either way, he got out and got the money. Good job Keith!

The didn't go from that angle. He played it pocket speed to either make the ball or leave it on the rail. He played the smart shot.

Keith was ducking but it was a two-way duck with a smaller percentage of making the 3 railer. The ball speed and cue ball placement was correct for the safe. Way better choice than the thin cut.

I know I'm second guessing a great player, but if it was my shot I'm cutting it in with
all the left english I can put on it.
Whitey is going three rails towards the five off the far short rail....
....and you don't lose every time you miss.
I have a carom tapered 12mm shaft on an old Joss and it seems easier to play these shots
under heat. If I was using an LD shaft or a 13mm tip, I wouldn't play it that way.

I didn't read all of the other comments. My opinion is that he was playing a safe all the way. He just hit it too hard. If he hadn't made the ball chances are that he would have sold out.

If Keith was going to shoot to make that ball, no way would he play that shot. Knowing Keith, I know that if he was shooting he would have cut the ball with low outside. That was one of his signature shots, even from an early age. He always had a very high percentage of making shot.
