Wednesday Open Thread: Efren v. Jose. Who do you like?

Meanwhile, back at the tournament, Justin Bergman on the hill against Mike Dechaine, 10 to 9.

That would have been a great match to watch on the TV table!

I am just tuning in to ppv though so thanks for the updates this morning. They are very much appreciated!!

My pleasure, Gary.

Sky is playing at 12:30 against someone named "J. Rodriguez." I don't know that player. Does anybody know who J. Rodriguez is?

Bergman still on the hill, and M.D. at 9. Wow! What a tight match!

OMG! They just broke into the TV progarms locally here that we have tornadoes in our area. OMG!

They are instructing us to take cover now. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows. If outdoors or in a mobile home or vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

Jorge Rodriguez from NYC. Great up and coming player. While Sky is the favorite, I think this match might be a lil closer than most would think.

Thanks, Eric.

We may lose power, damn it. Dark outside. I have to move to a safe area in the home, I guess, for a little while.

Heed the warnings, Jennie. Had a near F2 roar through here (yes, in NY!) a couple years ago, and let me tell you, it really is something to behold.

The good news is that the wife and I ended up with almost 3 cords of hickory (firewood) from that twister pulling down a couple huge hickory trees nearby. Nothing like that wonderful sugary hickory smell from a roaring fire in the fireplace!

Keeping my fingers crossed that you're not hit,
-Sean

Take your laptop with you JAM! :D Be safe

On the stream thread, we all begged for Dechaine vs Bergman on the stream table. Many of us figured that Dechaine would have to fight hard to beat the guy many of us reckon to be the second best of the "Mosconi 8."

Mike won 11-10, but I'd like to congratulate both of these fine players. Mike beat Justin 9-4 in the Steinway Classic in August and I remember thinking that these two are supposed to have a much closer match than that. Today they delivered, but unfortunately not on the stream table. Of course, hard to fault Pat for picking Jose vs Efren.

Justin Hall over the superb-playing Wang Can, so another of the Mosconi 8 has shown some good form today. Well played, Justin.

Our Mosconi guys are looking good today!

Justin over Wang Can is quite impressive!

Yeah, Jorge can play some, and has a chance to become a top player. If memory serves, he was 4th in the Steinway Classic 10-ball. Nice guy, too.

He's our local secret. Well, maybe not anymore.

Eric

Interestingly, Sky and Johnny Archer both went to the double hill. If Sky and Johnny had won, they would have played each other next round in the winner's side of the chart.

Interestingly, both were the last two matches to finish. Of course, I did not see either of the matches, but I do wonder if there was any slow play going on, even with a shot clock.

Both Johnny and Sky are on the B side of the chart. If they win their next match, fate will prevail. They will.be playing each other. I guess that it is meant to be that these two buck horns on a field of tournament blue. :grin-square:

Great matches on the stream tonight!

6:30 Dechaine vs Ouschan
Albin Ouschan is the reigning silver medalist from the world 9-ball championships, ranked #6 in the WPA world rankings. On paper, he's the favorite in this one, but I think Mike will have a very good chance here.

8:30 Earl vs Shane
Eight US Open titles in one match. Enough said. Should be fun.

10:30 Corey Deuel vs Jayson Shaw
Deuel's finesse should be an interesting match for Shaw's power. Jayson is the hot player right now, fresh off his win at Turning Stone.

Thanks, Accu-stats!
