I just got a promotion at work and will be moving to St. Louis, MO.

I would greatly appreciate meeting any AZers in the area to play, gamble, or just meet up. I am bringing my family and any direction/suggestions about the area would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe this is a little NPR, but I am interested in all things pool room and action related. I also wanted everyone to share in my good fortune.

Welcome to the area! You'll find lots of pool action around here! I run the Gateway Amateur Tour in the St. Louis/Metro East area, WATCHEZ (AZ Member) is another great source for pool info in this area.

When are you going to be here?

Congrats Daniel. That's gonna be a long ride to the tournaments in Athens every few months. :D

Congratulations, good luck in St. Louis. Remember that during the Midwest 9-ball tour events in Olathe, Kansas there is generally a lot of action. KC is about 3 and half hours across I-70 from St. Louis.

Going to try to make it, but the wife may want to go to New Orleans again b4 we move 5 1/2 hours further away. I'll let you know.

I have many good friends here; even a few guys who can actually vouch for how horribly I play, but you must do what's best for the family and the future.

Welcome to the area. There are several AZ'ers that post on here regularly, unlike me that is mostly a lurker. Klocdoc, jwilliams, and watchez are the ones that post most frequently. What area are you moving to? If you need help with choosing an area let me know or any of the ones mentioned above and we can point you in the right direction.

Looking for direction and info about schools and areas. I have our 10-year-old daughter coming with us. We are only looking to rent as we are keeping our home here. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I will be working in Granite City, IL so commute time hopefully will not be drastic, but I have no idea what kind of traffic volume to expect.

Not extremely familiar with the IL side, but I do know that edwardsville is considered a little nicer area that Granite City. If you want to stay on the MO side, Florissant and Hazelwood are the closest communities to Granite City and of course have some good areas and bad areas withing them. A little further west is Bridgeton and Maryland Heights, both part of the Pattonville School District are good areas and about a 20-35 minute commute depending on traffic.
 
I'm gonna fly up there and inconvenience you for a bed and breakfast sometime. Congrats for sure. I feel sorry for the league players there.

Welcome to St. Louis Daniel. Glen Carbon is a nice community on the East Side too. Hope you come by to visit my room sometime when you are in the area. We are located in the northwest area of St. Louis County. Small city named Overland. You can also click on the links in my signature for some half off coupons for playing pool. We also have half price pool in the daytime(till 4pm) $1.80 per hour 7 days a week for the summer. When youre here we can start recommending our favorite places to eat next! Welcome!

I don't know if that was an insult to my pompousness or respect for the fact that I may be about to rob some league players. You are welcome up anytime.
