What a Shot! (Not the viral ones)

We’ve all seen the Reyes, Melling, and Deuel highlight reels. Share some links to some amazing shots that haven’t gone viral.

Here’s one from Jeremy Seaman. Jump to 5 hours, 2 minutes, 20 seconds. They are playing “call shot” 10b on a bar box. He’s hooked pretty bad on the 1.

Do you think he meant it just like that or did he call the ten just because balls were headed it's direction?

Personally I would say he called just because he knew the cue ball was heading that way and it would have a good chance of pocketing the 10. Great shot though.

Technically, nice bank. Even got 3 out of it. I like that it came to a stop hooked. Musta been THE correct shot. lol...

Of course he couldn't call it exactly how it was going to happen. But he DID make the balls go that way. He lined it up like that pretty deliberately.

I agree, also the CB would not automatically be heading that way, looks like he added left english to send it that way.

I was in a ring game once where those guys played call shot 10 ball but they called the 10 all the time in case it went.

To me if you play call shot 10 ball and you call the 10 then you should lose your turn if the 10 doesn't go.
When you call the ten because you have nothing else and you don't make the ten you do lose your shot.

The remedy for that I have seen is call safety. If you call a ball and miss it and your opponent doesn't like the leave he can give it back. The only way you can hook your opponent is by calling safety. It's not the perfect answer but it does minimize the times people take two way flyers at the cheese.

That's not how some people play it. If they are on the 5 and see a chance to carom the 10 the pocket the 5 and call the 10 in case it goes. If the 10 doesn't go they stay at the table.

The world standardized rules only allow you to call one ball. If you call the 5 the ten spots and you keep shooting. You can't call them both.

These people who play as you say are confused individuals.

For a million years in gambling with a called money ball, the smart move was to call your money ball if there is any chance of it going. The current 10 ball rules bastardized the game. But they don’t affect gambling and money balls, thsvkfully.

I do seem to encounter a lot of people who fit that description.

Thing about having to call only one ball is it takes away the luck factor, but it also takes away 2 way shots.

For me giving up 2 way shots is worth it to avoid losing by getting stuck behind a ball when an opponent misses. That is the worst.

Like I said it's not a perfect solution but it is an interesting way to do it. Changes strategy a bit and reduces the "flyers" some.

Well if you don't luck in the 10 you just call safe, jump it and still get lucky!

Truth be told if each of us that have played thousands of hours of pool were to have a camera running at all times we would see a highlight reel of amazing called shots beyond belief. It's a beautiful thing when a plan comes through on the pool table.
