What Az'er Would You Like To Meet.......

It'd be easier to say who I wouldn't want to meet!:D I've met a few AZBer's now & they've all been good people.

Off the top of my (shiny) head though I'll go for:

Jay Helfert
John Schmidt
The One
Blackjack
Kevin Varney
Linda Carter

I could go on forever. As for The Incredible Disappearing Donovan, I guess I'll have to break out his phone number & see where he is!!:D

I can't believe there's all these guys posting on here that I haven't met yet. I've been around pool so long, I'm listed as an antique. We've probably been at some of the same events down thru the years and just never met for whatever reason.

I think I'll have an AZ party next Summer at my house and invite all AZ'ers that want to come. You know like a reunion. Shoot pool, bar-b-que and drink beer. Then we can shoot some more pool. I'll do it for an entire weekend. Anyone can come, NO ONE is barred. It's an Open Invitational! Is that possible? Heii, I'll even invite Howerton. How generous is that. And Wilson too. He can be the ref for our pool games. :)

Even the guys that don't like me can come and we can settle it on the table. My table, my house, my rules, Jay wins! :) :)
Hey, OnePocketGhost came here and beat me a couple of games of One Pocket. But I was out of stroke, so I want a rematch.

OMGWTF will be the guest of honor!

Scott Lee - While conceivable that I could meet him, I'm still putting him on here because I hope to sometime.

poolnut...Thanks, the feeling is mutual. Might just happen, as I've done shows several times at Western, and I have a proposal in again for sometime this school year. I'll let ya know if that happens!

That would be great. I would be up for a lesson also if you do make it down here.

I'd like to meet just about everyone here. If I had to narrow it down to just a few then these are the ones:

BlackJack--because he's been a great source of motivation for me.

Hal--Because he strikes me as an eminently decent rock steady kind of guy.

Eydie Romano--Cause she's such a nice person.

Bob Jewett--Because of his vast knowledge.

Grady--Because he's Grady!

Patrick Johnson--I've grown to like that crusty character.

Linda--Because she's the queen!

Purdman--Cause his heart is in the right place.

Casual Observer--Because we tend to agree on many things.

Hondo--Because we'd have a great time and we'd both gain from the experience.

Fine, done. But let's lock up the cues, OK?

I'd love to meet fatboy. I've never sat in a Lambo.;)

Well, I had the pleasure of meeting Fatboy, but he was only driving a big long Rolls-Royce with 24 inch chrome rims equipped with a hot blonde.

Chris

Ps. Seriously.

Jay - For his knowledge of the game, the players, and the great stories he has. The man seems to have lived an awesome life. Although he does lean way to the left sometimes. But we need people on every side of the issue to have balance. I've actually met Jay before but I'm sure he doesn't remember me. I played in the Reno Bar table Championship the year before last when he ran it. I spoke with him on the phone and he helped me with some of the finer details of attending the tournament. I had my girlfriend at the time drive me through a blizzard from Idaho to get there. And I went again this year and saw him there but didn't introduce myself. He seemed too busy with poker anyways. :)

Blackjack - For his knowledge of the game and speaking his mind on issues he believes in. And I always find myself agreeing with everything he says.

sjm- For being the father figure of the forum always being the voice of reason.

JoeyA - Down to earth guy that I could see myself getting along with pretty well.

Terry Ardeno - He's very passionate about the forum and life in general. Seems to be an all around good guy.

Purdman - Because he seems like a guy that has been there and done that. Seems like a cool guy to hang out with.

TheOne - I respect the guy for following his dream of being a pro and speaking his mind. I also find myself agreeing with him all the time.

Jude Rosenstock - Seems like a down to earth guy that takes his game seriously and would be fun to play against.

cueball1950 - Enjoy his posts and I respect him very much for how he is handling the condition his wife is in and being there for her until the end. Stay strong bud.

Melissa Herndon - She wrote to me when I deployed to Iraq and I appreciate that very much. She is a very cool person and I root for her in every tournament she plays in.

SpiderWebComm - Always seem to have some good insight into topics. Fast becoming a great poster.

sarahrousey - because she is a nice person and is also another that I root for.

I also wish that I had the opportunity to meet OldHasBeen and Rude Dog. They both left us way too early.

OldHasBeen was another one of those guys that had been around the block a time or two and always had great stories.

I always enjoyed reading Rudedog's posts. He always told it like he saw it and I respected him for it.

Many others I'd like to meet and respect their posts but I think I'm being too wordy for my liking.

The high end stuff is in my safe. I keep my cue rack full of good playing cues though. I currently have my Josey, a Corsair, a solid ebony Joss, a Starkey, a Guido, a plain maple Tiger, my new Ratt cue and an old Meucci original in the rack. They all hit good.

That's my boy! If he ever gets ahold of any real money, I'm gonna have to play him some. :) :)

DP, I'll remember you if I see you. This was my last year helping out on the U.S. Bar Table. It belongs to Mark Griffin now. You're right, I played in three tournaments at the Peppermill in their Spring Series. I cashed twice, both times making the second table (something like a 12th and a 13th). Small money each time, under a grand.

1. Freddy the Beard, great stories and pool knowledge

2. Grady, same as 1

3. Hemicudas, same as 1

4. JAM, same as 1 and puts up with a lot of haters and keeps on strokin

5. Roy Steffensen, favorite furinor

I didn't know what furinor was, so I asked a brit.

He didn't know either, but he said that since I was favourite it couldn't be that bad.

After a while he had googled it and found the meaning, that it was foreigner.

fur?rin?er [fur-uh-ner, fuhr-]
?noun Dialect. a foreigner

Then he said:
"Bloody yeankees spelling stuff like they say it!

I thought that was really funny coming from a Brit, cause what I think is funny about language is that everyone in the world understands English, but no one understands the people who invented the language, the Brits.

Anyway Punter, thanks!

Jay: I am coming to your party! That would be awesome! I'm gonna play you some banks too

Not necessarily in order:

sjm - should be at the top of everyone's list
omgwtf - I may get to meet her within the month
Pharoah68 - never fails to crack me up, very intelligent, knows all the crazy, hot women in the NYC area
TATE - one of the best, in so many ways
Hunter - class guy
TheOne - how can you not love the goofy lug?
Jude Rosenstock - I'd bring him a case of tan colored chalk
Williebetmore - anybody that loves 14.1 like he does is OK in my book (he knows Jeanette Lee, ya know)
zeeder - we have a shared love of cues
merylane - doesn't post much, but when he does, it is a nugget
BarenbruggeCues - same reason as for merylane
8-ball Rat - down to earth and real
BrooklynJay - because he is going DOWN!!
Blackjack - for all the reasons everyone stated
Hal - two words: drunk chatting
NYC cue dude - I'd like to understand where he is coming from
ibuycues - Will is my hero

drivermaker - for his passion and knowledge

There are more that I am leaving out, I'm sure.
