What did the IPT do that was right?

Didn't they have a dress code?

Heck yeah. It sucks for the men, with those long-sleeved shirts, leather shoes, and suit coat jackets at all times. If you did not adhere to the dress code, then you were disqualified or forfeited.

Meanwhile, the lady pros could wear halter tops and just about anything else that was dressy-looking. They could shoot pool more comfortably than the guys.

The men's dress code made it uncomfortable to shoot pool for some players.

Ok, I am offering you a final word of advice.

If you get sharp tongued just once more, you will win a nice long break from AZB. I have recieved several complaints regarding you and you can add to the pile.....that if you don't know who to leave rep and report a bad post and I get this message "Your link in your sig file gave me a virus when I clicked it. Douchebag." and find the balance of your nastieness here, you can be assured that I am not amused.

This is your final warning.

Whatev. Ban me if you want. That clown puts a link in his sig file that leads to a hijack virus that's had me on clean-up duty for the last hour and you think I'm not going to get "sharp tongued" about it? Feel free to protect someone who's either knowingly looking auto install malware or is simply too stupid to realize that his site is launching a Jade-A virus which attacks Java (which everyone uses)

No offense to Mike or Jerry as they're both good guys and I do love AZ, but I'm done here.

Out.

There's a way to address things and a way not. This guy has been around a long time and I suspect he has no knowledge of the alleged virus. No need to jump him like that in someone else's thread when an informative pm would have alerted him just dandy.

Then you pull the carry on without me move. Priceless.

They made all players were some decent clothes!! Dress Codes should be mandatory at all big events IMO. The image of billiards needs a serious makeover and the gals like to see the guys dressed to impress!!!

BTW I HOPE DENO READS THIS THREAD!!!

The best thing about the International Pool Tour (IPT) is that it brought back players who had more or less gave up on pool. Scotty Townsend, C.J. Riley, Dave Matlock, Dee Adkins, and Jon Kucharo come to mind.

...it gave aspiring professional players hope...

This is exactly what I was going to post, now I don't have to. Nice one JAM!

Dave

They included women in the mix, which enabled us to truly understand where their games rank with some of the best players in the world.

They also had a plan for continuously seeding the player population with fresh blood.

The plan included dropping the worst performers from the tour in favor of opening up opportunities for others to join the tour by winning qualifiers.

I thought it was great while it lasted. A serious effort to upgrade the status of pool to that of bygone eras. With dress codes, impressive venues, professional staff and communications and beautiful 'hostesses' and interviewers-all first class. The money at stake was top notch. Despite delays as the business model revenue sources slowed(or a franchise sale fell thru?)-last I heard-everybody got paid. If that's so-could have been worse-and it was a cool ride for a while and a glimpse of what might be possible.

Imho-more good was done than bad from the existence of the IPT.

I've seen vests worn at some events. It has more flexibility than a full suit or dress shirt. The vest idea works well, and gives the players dedicated space to put signs and standardize their image. Sure Mike Sigel playing at the IPT doesn't need his name on a vest, that's because everyone knows its Mike Sigel, but in the pictures it really looks good to have the image and the name together, especially the over the back photos which are is easy to get.

I had some great shots of the top players but people that don't know pool would just see some guy in a vest, shooting a cue and think who is that handsome man or gorgeous babe, but if they had a name tag on them, at least the story the photos would tell is that is the guy you know legendary hall of famer bla bla bla.

It was just an idea for the crowd new to the pool scene, that could have been done better by the IPT.

Wow, keep them coming. Even if they are repeats.

Right,
at lests they tried.

Wrong,
Trying to start from the top. They tried to start with a finished product and left no room for short term failure and tinkering. They shot their whole wad all at once and crashed as many on here predicted. The kind of money they started with if done right could have been the beginning of something long term if they had just been willing to crawl before trying to run. Watching from the outside it looked like a bust waiting to happen and it did. Trust me, no one took any pleasure is saying "I told you so". It was a missed opportunity and they screwed it up royally.

I made the rule of positive only because I don't want this thread to be turned into the IPT argument all over again.

Please...Please...Please... Positives only. One positive per post. (easier to summarize)

Thanks

For the photos that were present hanging from the rafters at the Reno event, those came from pool officianado Charles Ursitti vast collection of pool pictures.

Mr Ursitti, was the backbone of organizaitonal driven parlance for the IPT.

A very positive point IMO

The IPT worked out a system that people committed to and supported.

I got a buttload of autographs in Florida. The Miz showed up for the Sigel vs Efren finals.

Kevin only allowed "healthy" food to be served at the IPT events. It was all good except the green hot dogs.

I got to meet JAM and Keith. :)
