What disagreement happened in this Corey-Shane match (video)?

I have the video below cued up at the spot where this happened. Corey breaks and makes, I think it was, two solids and one stripe. Then he shoots a stripe. Shane then confronts him. What is going on here, looks like they are disagreeing on whether he has solids or stripes? Also tell me this... in the bars around here, this is the way 8-ball is played... if you make two solids and one stripe, you are solids. Which, to me, is stupid. What if you want stripes? I thought the rule is, anywhere they actually play real rules, lol, that if you make any ball on the break, you then shoot again and if you make a called shot, that is solid or stripe is what you are playing. What have I missed, lol.

P.S. Unrelated... what size table do you think this is?

They were playing take what you make, the table was still open. I think Shane knew this but may have been trying to disrupt Corey.

Listen to the video and it is self explanatory. Well I guess I shouldnt assume az's hearing comprehension is better then it's reading comprehension.

What I hear is "one of each" which did not happen. I've played "some of each" by two different rules. Did they say which variant they were using?

I saw a stripe drop in the lower right corner 912 or 14) and the 2 ball drop in the upper right corner. Maybe Shane just saw the 2 ball drop.

I have played take what you make, if one of each open table. If more of one than the other then you have to shoot what you make the most of which makes sense with take what you make. However, I have also played where this is open table, take your choice.

The wonderful world of pool rules where you can always find a variant to suit you! I favor open table after the break and you shoot again. No penalty for making a ball with a tough run out. It doesn't really matter though as long as both players are using the same rules!

If you watch carefully, the 2, 4 and 15 fell. Two solids and one stripe. Then Corey shot the 12 in the side as his first shot after the break.

I have played by rules where that is not allowed.

I have played under rules where it wasn't allowed, I have played under rules where it was perfectly legal. As always when not in a formal event local rules prevail, even those made up on the spot! However, I did play quite awhile where the table was still open if you made at least one of each even though it was take what you make if you only made one ball or two balls or more from one set.

Definitely not trying to argue what is right, just stating what was. This was all in South Louisiana. To get into really squirrelly rules I went through parts of Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Played in Georgia too but I had my brother who had been there awhile steering me and warning of anything I needed to know. On that trip I played bank the eight, eight in the last pocket, eight must fall absolutely clean, can't even touch a pocket inner rail! I made a little money on that trip but swore never to go through there again!

How do they play it in championship 8-ball?
If you make one solid, are you solids?
If you make one of each, must you choose before you shoot next?
If you make one of each, are you whatever you next call and make?
If you make two solids and one stripe, are you solids?

If the aim is fairness to the shooter who is awarded the break, seems to me that if you make any ball on the break, if you make a called shot on the next shot, THAT ball indicates the set you are; that is the set you chose to have because they have a better layout. If you miss on the shot after the break where a ball was made, the table is open. What are championship rules?

Yes. We play "what you have is determined by the first legal called shot" . Make anything on break and you keep shooting, but until someone makes a called shot the table is open.

Yes in every "take what you make" rule I have played by, you have to shoot what you made more of on the break. So 2 solids and a stripe would make the breaker solid. I know you can do it either way, but then it makes the rule a bit moot and you may as well play open after the break like the World rules are.

Not very odd that SVB would go after Corey after something he did, as you can see on Shane's face here

I would not put it past Corey to try to push the rules a bit, he is as crafty with the rules as the GOAT of coaches Belicheck. I remember he was talking about a called shot 8 ball or 10 ball match, he said that he wanted to call two shots if two balls were possible to go in since he "called" both of them so if either went in he was good.

Never heard of "take what you made more of."

APA, for example, uses "Take what you make." If you make one or more of each, it's just open.
Same here never heard that for apa, or bar style or any rule set,

I have heard of you take whichever falls first lol
