What if there was a pro organization, and they drug tested?

Lots of other sports do it. Just introducing a topic for discussion, not trying to accuse anyone specific. Personally, I could care less - but it is a reality in the world of pro sports. Oh how some of the mighty might fall.

you would have alot of pissed off players, and alot of people having to learn how to play sober. Or alot of people buying masking agents to pass a test.

According to Joe Rogan Earl would be out.:)

If every single player had to piss in a cup twice a day, in return for a real governing pro pool organization, it'd be totally worth it.

That being said, I'm a little "Whatever" towards the OP implying some 'mighty' pros would 'fall' if they didn't have the help of whatever drug he thinks helps you play better than 99.999% of the planet. Nobody snorts or injects their way to a US open title.

Side note, would they extend the banned drugs to something like adderall?

With so little money in the sport, who would pay for the testing?

Might be tougher to fill some tournys.....

I'm all for it. Back 25 years ago when I was on the road I played a guy in Iowa. I gave him the 6 ball and beat him out of about $1000.

I came back 3 days latter and played him some more. I lost $500 back real quick still giving him the 6 ball. Then I played him even and lost another $500 even quicker.

He offered me the 8 ball and I lost another $500. Then he offered me the 6 ball and I just quit.

I found out latter that he was taking some pills for people that just fall asleep. I think that is called narcolepsey.

After that I looked real good at as players pupils.

I was at the US Open back in 1999 and saw one of the favorites in the tournament walking in to play his match. You could almost see the sparks flying off him. I don't know what he was on but it was pretty powerful.

Many of the players that I knew that did this drug or that drug to play pool ended up with their whole life in a real mess.

It's real sad to see a young guy with so much life and energy a couple of years latter looking so burned out after using something to help him play better. Over my pool career I've seen this over and over again.

It really isn't fair to the players that are playing on the square.

I'm all for the drug testing.............

If pool ever wanted to build from the ground up, such as public school systems and like that would have to be the case. It would have to be a "clean" sport in order for the public to change their perception of the game and involve the younger generation at a younger point in life. The current consensus is that pool is dirty played by boozers, druggies, and gamblers. The only things people outside of the pool scene hear about are the crazy shit that happens when things get ghetto. If we could "clean" it up the game might take off. Sadly I don't see that happening in my lifetime and I'm 26.

Adderal , Methamphetemine {Desoxyn among others} and Cocaine all have similar effects on the body.
If someone truly has ADD or ADHD the medicine will be used to fight the problem by the body and you would not feel any of the effects people feel who do not have the affliction and take the medicine.
So anyone who had prescription medicine, would have to test within the limits of their dosage to make sure they were not abusing.

I was just raising an interesting topic. It's not an implication, it's a fact. It's a fact in all aspects of life. You can be "whatever" towards it and me all you want, I'm just wondering what could happen if there was a governing body and rules were imposed...

Really just thought it would make an interesting forum conversation, which so far it sortof has.

I would think alot of the top players would pass, svb, reyes, mika, holmen, robles, daulton, shuff, ralf, busty, alex, kennedy, williams, and i think there are a lot more names that could go on the drug free list.

Someday they could get politicians to take lie detector tests over their stance on different issues .HAHA , nevermind .

Haha, now that's a whole new topic.... If politicians could be held accountable for what they promise, oh, well, nevermind, that will never happen...

Well, I'm curious... did you mean mighty players would fall as in, they couldn't shoot good pool anymore without the assistance of their favorite drugs? Or did you just mean... they'd get nailed by the pisstest frequently and be banned from playing, and end up kind of washed up?

Sure. Just like nobody ever used drugs who has ever won a Gold Medal or a World Championship. Barry Bonds is not on trial for using drugs to make himself strong enough to pump out all those home runs.

I think that you are a little naive here regarding the real world.

If drug testing were a part of pro pool then some players would not pass. Most would, some wouldn't and others would adjust as needed.

That's a fact. If such a thing came to pass I am sure that the pros would have enough to time to take care of their business and make sure that they could pass whatever tests we done.

Personally I am for drug testing after taking many beatings from drugged up opponents who were shooting lights out. I did cocaine once and played pool right after and while I was high I was looking at the person who gave it to me and said WOW, now I see why people do this and play. All the shots were SO CLEAR and I had no hesitation or doubt.

I also told her that I could see why people get addicted to it. Luckily for me I could drop it then and not desire any more.

Trust me, plenty of people think that they need mother's little helper to get through life and the more they are asked to perform the more they think that they need it.
