What is the best pool table?

No bending.
Just walk around the table and throw out the balls.

Have been watching Shane practice at his home on FB this week.
He has a Rasson (possible sponsor) with drop pockets.

I prefer drop pockets too.
My GCIII came with a return so I changed it over to drop pockets.
They are quieter than a return too.

As far as build quality I have to give it to Diamond. However...I hate the way they play, the fast and short playing cushions, the shape of the rails, and especially deep shelf pockets which completely ruins the way the tables take balls along the rails. For playability and enjoyment of the game, nothing beats a well set up GC. If I had a choice, I'd never pick the Diamond, unless I was a room owner, then the build quality would come into play. For my own enjoyment, it's GC all the way. Also I much prefer the GC over the commercial Diamond tables for looks.

... Diamond of course makes great table if you can get past the style. ...

Perhaps you guys are referring to the Diamond Pro-Am and Smart tables. I agree that they are not too attractive. But the Diamond Professional table is good looking, and fairly similar in looks to Gold Crowns.

L drill for one example.
* I also try to switch sides for drills to even out the wear a little bit. Drop pockets are good when you're on the opposite side of the return.
I like most any table though!👍
Or when ya miss a shot, get pissed, you can grab it right out of the pocket and set it right up again. Lol

Gold Crown I, but I may be a little biased.

So what is the best pool table? like ranking them. If given a choice what is the best pool table to play 8 or 9 or 10 ball on? And why? I really only know of valley and gold crown and diamond. From those tables I would pick diamond. Would you guys pick diamond? or what other brands are better?

Thanks

I have owned 5 tables in my 74 years and all were Brunswick, so thats all I know.
Never had an issue with any of them.

Man that is a nice setup! Pretty high ceiling for a basement, if it is a basement. And those studs look like real 2 x 4 cut. Looks like an old city setup to me! Love that table looks right out of the 50's/60's.. NICE!!

I thought Diamond was supposed to fix the angles years ago.
Was that just another myth?
I've never tested this. Just wondering.
My understanding is that the angles were corrected .. the "problem" tables were the "red label" tables and all of the new tables (for several years now) are built to "Blue Label" standards and have the corrected angles. Just had my Diamond .. furniture model drop pocket table .. set up earlier in the month.

Thanks. It's the detached garage of my 1930 built home in So Cal. Basements are very rare here and if a home does have one, it's usually too small for a pool table.

Love a Gold Crown IV with reworked angles, biased because I own one. But I'd play on either a GC or a Pro-Am without a gripe.

I prefer to play on any table where my opponent is not a sniveling twit.

I actually like it best if this type of person isn't anywhere in the establishment.

IMO Diamonds are best table when cloth is new(ish). Gold Crowns rail angles play nicely even cloth is not new. Also Steel SAM billiards tables are good solid tables.

I have an Olhausen Louis XIV. One inch thick pure slate. The rails are 100% rubber. I believe they are called Accu-Fast. The pocket are wider than the Diamonds but from my experience the pockets play more difficult because the rails tend to kick balls out of the pockets more than the Diamonds. Also, like many stated here Diamonds do not seem to give "true angles" for kick shots. Therefore, the argument that Diamonds play more difficult IMHO is that the rails make the tables more difficult, not the tighter pockets.
BTW, the club that I play at have all Diamond tables so I do have a lot of playing time on them.

Perhaps, it's probably nostalgia having grown up around Brunswick tables.

For me it's a Gold Crown. Love the sound it makes when you hit dead center pocket.

For a bar table it's an Irving Kaye lionshead. Some of the younger players may not know about these, but I loved playing on them.

Gold Crowns.

Diamond tables bank short for me and I always have to adjust about a ball when I play on a diamond verses my GC3 at home.

I do appreciate all the support Diamond Tables has done in the last 20 years, and Brunswick seems to have abandoned the pool world.
