Please answer my question above about the division of money.
The reason I ask is that there was someone else on here recently who was promoting a new kind of event. It was said to be interesting to all levels of players. A little arithmetic showed that he was raking off about 50% of the entry fees for himself. That seemed excessive to me.
I agree, that is excessive. I don't know how much demand there could have been for such a system, although I'm not often surprised to find people will fall for such a thing.
Our prize pools will be generated by selling the tickets to pool halls and leagues of all sizes. We are also selling to weekly tournament directors, cue services, instructors, and anyone looking to support pool players in the most general sense.
I myself am a player first and always will be. I'm not going to be able to participate in GTP events, for obvious reasons, but I will tell you that Grand Tour Promotions is only going to put on events that I personally would want to be involved in.
As for the division of money, we will be earning our revenues through the sale of advertising and marketing of our sponsors.
Earlier you mentioned $4000 as an amount that we'd have to raise to put on these events. That was exactly the amount we came to as well. It's a goal that we won't have to reach for our first events, but one we hope won't be too unreasonable as we move forward.
We will not be breaking even any time soon. We are ok with that. It's part of any new business. The players and our sponsors can be certain that we will be keeping our expenses to a minimum, so as to ensure that we are as well equipped to bring the best we can, time and again.
Long response I know, but I think the question you raised is an important one, and deserved a complete answer.
Please feel free to follow up with more if you have any other questions, or if you feel I haven't answered your question to your satisfaction.
