what is wrong with chalking right handed?

.

Is this the same as being right handed and using the knife in your right hand and then switching with the fork?

I didn't want to derail the shame/mike thread (not that doing so would be a terrible shame) but the fact that mike chalked with his right hand keeps getting brought up, as though its a bad thing.

I realize that I'm a noob, a lowly league banger, someone with very little experience. But I don't get it. Who the hell cares which hand someone Chapman with, and why?

I'm a righty, and I chalk with my right hand. Wanna know why? BECAUSE I'm right handed. I have far more dexterity and control with my right hand. And I've often read here about "the correct way to chalk", swiping it across the tip. If I had to use my left hand (in order to satisfy some arcane custom, apparently) then I'd be a "driller" for sure. And then you'd denigrate me about that, too.

So what gives? Educate me, please. :p

I shoot righty and chalk righty. My right hand is far more coordinated than my left. I want to make sure I do a good job getting an even coat of chalk on there. I couldn't care less if this costs me more time or energy...it is part of my pre-shot routine. It is thinking time...I take longer to plan my shot than chalk my tip, so who cares exactly how I do it. If you begrudge someone *which hand* they chalk with...I gotta believe you have larger issues...

Is this like which way you hang the toilet paper 'over or under'? Sounds like about the same thing to me.

People were making fun of the way Mike chalks because he brushes is on like a fairy. Not that he does it with his right or left hand. Who cares about that. But the next time you watch Dechaine shoot watch how he applies the chalk, its kinda funny.

I would be even more interested to see the fairy pool league, where they must all have a well established and similar method of applying chalk. I personally have no data on the chalking habits of fairies.

I could have worded it much differently, but I didnt want to offend anyone.

this will work

place the chalk on the floor, insert the cue into the chalk and spin the cue between your hands like you were trying to start a fire boy scout style. drilling the cue into the chalk makes those pretty blue rings on the ferrule also makes a lot of chalk dust, and wears out the chalk real fast.
WTF does anyone really care how the chalk gets on the tip?

I dip my penis in freshly ground Masters and chalk with my foreskin. I saw a player who's better than me do it, and think it'll help my game. I'm surprised it hasn't caught on yet.

Honestly, this forum.

I do the same but Kamui sticks better.

"A bear and a rabbit happen to find themselves next to each other, relieving themselves in the woods. The bear asks the rabbit, 'do you have a problem with, you know, it sticking to your fur?' The rabbit answers, 'no.' So the bear wipes himself with the rabbit."

-Sean <-- not sure if the bear wiped with his left or right paw

sometimes I like to sit on my left hand until it goes numb and then when I chalk it feels like someone else is chalking my cue. I call it "the stranger"

This actually made me LOL!! Now that right there is funny!

I shoot righty. When I chalk, I hold my cue in my left hand, bumper on the floor, cue tilted some, and use my right hand to shipe chalk over the tip. I only do it this way because when I started playing when I was twelve, the seventy-five year old man that owned the pool hall instructed me that this was the correct way to do it. And this, like everything else he taught me, has turned out to be postively accurate for me. God bless you, and rest in peace Peckerhead!(Don Davido)

I keep a cube of chalk in my left pocket but chalk my cue with my right hand(unless I get in a hurry). I try and use the edges and corners of the chalk so I do not dig a hole in the cube.
I do not know why, its just a habit.

I shoot and chalk with my right. Keeping the bridge hand chalk free is the goal. I'll be sure to never get a linen wrap.

Depends on how well you like the guy.

I don't do it but hey, if that's your thing.... go for it!

Oh uhhh. I was asking for a friend. A friend who is waiting for his AZB account to be approved. And he doesn't get out much...uh, coz he is sick. And contagious. And his phone is lost.
