What is your opinion on cuemakers that sign their cues?

if it's signed like the way chris nitti signs it, then i have absolutely no problem with it.

or if the cuemaker's name is presented like the way dennis did on one of his new cues, that would be even more ideal.

I'm not a big fan of the signature,
but I do think Tascarella has the best signature IMO...

So I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on:

cuemakers that sign their own cues, either by the points or down on the butt

vs

cuemakers that use a simple logo usually found on the butt.

Personally I am not a big fan of the signature/date that is used by many. Many of these look sloppy and draw more attention to the cue than the work on the cue itself.

Am I just being petty? Is a cue, many times being a work of art, something that needs to be signed?

under the wrap is a good idea for guysd like Barry who might get knocked off. But i'm not big on tattoos on my cues either. a simple logo like Sugartree does it kinda small is ok(kinda) because most of his cues are wrapless.

Not sure if you know...but only a "real" signature on early cues (and some cues) on the rest is a screen print...Im sure Marcus can provide the skinny on that one.

My $0.02

I can only play with 1 cue at a time......so....more then 1 cue = collecting. So i treat my cues sorta like art ....and you dont buy art that isnt signed, or guaranteed authentic. I see cues on fleabay all the time that are made by so and so..no sig, no logo, but you can call and and ask..pass. For me, i dont mind a logo, stamp etc.....but if i was making the cues, i would treat them like art, and they need to be signed. For me it also comes down the the look of the sig....i have seen cues where it was signed above the pints with thick sharpie..no, make it tasteful..but i want to know who made it!

For the sake of knowing it's not a fake, I always want a signed cue. No proof of authenticity really gets to me, especially since there are some really good forgery artists out there.

signatures...2nd

here's my preferrence

1)pin engravings -sw, bender etc

2)logo embossing- rick howard, scruggs, searing

3) signature- only nice ones like Searings,Haley

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.... I LIKE LISTENING TO THE GUYS TELL ME WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN THE "SIGNATURE" THAT REPRESENT DIFFERNT THINGS ABOUT DIFFERENT CUES. THEY'RE ALWAYS WRONG, BUT THE STORIES ARE AMUSING.

CAN'T BEAT IT.....
