What just happened between Shane & JJ on TAR stream?

I tuned in right in the middle of the drama and didn't see what started it.
Jeremy was talking to someone to get a ruling on (?possible shane foul?)
and really didn't like the answer, but returned to the table to play it out.
Score was 1 - 1, both players at -1 balls.

Jeremy played a nice carom off another ball to hang a ball near his hole,
hiding shane from the ball on the other side of the stack.

Shane tries to kick in a ball, hits hard, goes uptable, and seemingly gets lucky
leaving no look at the ball near jeremy's hole. Jeremy's reply moves 2 balls away
from his own hole & sells out.

Shane makes 2 tough ones, and falls on a third ball, then asks for that third ball to be
cleaned before he shoots it. Jeremy gets mad and complains, saying something like
"if there's a hair on the ball you can take it off, but otherwise..."

They come over to clean it, and he unscrews, saying a couple of times
"unbelievable. It's the Shane Van Boening tournament."

...wonder how it'll be with JJ commenting on Shane's TAR matches now?

I could be wrong, but it seemed like JJ brought in a bad attitude with him to the match. I tuned in shortly before the last rack, when JJ was having major issues with Shane's racking. Then there was the issue with the frozen (or not frozen) ball where the ref took Shane's side (that it was frozen). You must have tuned in right after that.

It seemed from the point when I tuned in that JJ was carrying an attitude. Not sure if I had missed anything prior to that.

On another note, great production by TAR.

Personally I don't think the balls or the cueball should be cleaned at any point unless it is between racks, but if it is allowed in the rules I have no issue.

I don't understand... if there is a ref involved, then there is no argument.

If JJ had later asked for a ball to be cleaned, and the ref said no, then he would have a legit gripe.

Just because someone doesn't give you the answer that you wanted to hear, doesn't mean that they gave you the incorrect answer. Bad rolls happen all the time... just play the game.

are they showing the shane/effren match right now? or is my phone playing the ghost version?

Next match starts in over an hour. Figured it was better to play something than have the camera on an empty table. Up next is Bartram vs Stroud

I do have to say that Shane gets some leeway with what he does. Which is not much, but I do not agree that he should be allowed to adjust the rack if the opponent racks. He can check it, but not move the balls. He looks to like doing that, he was doing it when he was playing Earl on the 10 footer which got Earl pissed, and I agree with Earl. Unless it's rack your own, don't touch the rack unless we both agree that you can.

Quick, someone make a sign about the cue he was going to make!

Would have been too funny if Shane did some woofing back at him...

"This ain't Bonus Ball JJ"!
or
"What happened, not getting paid from BB, so you could only afford to pay for half a match"?

I watched most of it and could hear some of the background conversation.

I think JJ was still steaming from an earlier call in this same game when they allowed SVB to shoot directly thru an OB that was frozen to the CB. Apparently JJ was told earlier that this would be a foul? and then they changed during this game to allow SVB to shoot thru it? More than a few tournament rules allow you to shoot thru frozen balls. JJ seemed to be upset because of the apparent rule turnaround - not the rule itself. It was ruled that the balls were frozen and SVB shot thru them...

Then later in the same game SVB asked to have the three balled cleaned. Apparently the (very common) diamond table pocket scuff mark was very close to or on the contact point of the three ball. SVB was in the right here to ask it to be cleaned.

I believe JJ was still steaming over the earlier call and forfeited here. He used this issue to prove his point but I don't think this call (to move/clean the three ball) was wrong. Unfortunate.

So, to summarize...

JJ draws one of the best out there.
Has a call go SVB's way.
Shane asks for a ball cleaning and gets it.

JJ acts like Earl.

Does that about cover it?

I'm sure JJ was thinking of his bad luck to draw SVB in his first match in a tournament that is not too top heavy. This could put you in a bad mood to start.

Beyond that, someone that actually was there or saw what happened 100% should comment

Pool WILL drive you bat sh1t. JJ is a cool cat 98% of the time, but no one can remain cool 100% of the time. I would bet that 9/10 of us who even claim to be well behaved have a story somewhere in their history where they behaved erratically, rudely, etc.

And yes, when you're playing someone better than you it's insult to injury if they're getting impartial treatment.

Sounds to my like JJ had himself beaten before it even started and was just scrambling for an excuse...

Interesting about the pushing through a frozen ball thing. It's kind of an obscure issue to get heated over.
I can see it if JJ had a frozen push opportunity earlier and passed it up to avoid fouling.

Racking makes a little more sense, the break is big in this game. And sometimes the rack
seems to magically send a ball into the hole and that makes it even worse.
Neutral racking would solve it.

Ball cleaning thing was an excuse, shane may have been out of that rack, it's a heartbreaker
to see a guy shoot a sellout shot, catch a roll, then your own shot sells out
and leads to a run.

OK, so in this next match, who are we rooting for? The well respected younger gambler who
just got engaged?

Or the old guy famous for stiffing someone out of a custom cue in a contest?

First, I don't know exactly who did what, so I'm not pointing blame at one over the other...

My question: Don't you think this behavior is worse when TAR and it's paid viewership takes the pipe? I mean, is it less acceptable to do this if you're on the PPV table?

I doubt Justin is a happy camper.

I beat jj once and he cried. he had me 7 to 3 in mobile and misses a safety on the 1ball and I get extremely lucky and run the entire set out!!!omgg

my best accomplishment to date really and he says "I make 1 mistake and you make 7 and I lose how do you like that"

I was so happy I ignored him. However he did come over 20mins later after he cooled down and congratulated me which I thought was cool and I swept it under the rug

Losing never makes people happy is the moral of this story. and I just wanted to talk about beating jj

Hay, didn't you beat JJ? Tell us about that!!!!!:D;)

The frozen OB/CB rule has been in effect for 6-7 years now hasnt it? And certainly if it WAS in effect, a pro should know what that means. SMH
