No, I don't think so. Only several folks have ever beat Shane in TAR matches so he is on the top of the list.

I wouldn't call it favoritism at all. Plus, remember that TAR started out as gambling matches. And not many people would step up to play Shane with their own money.

Shane is definitely one of the elite. I don't think he stands out above some other elite players but I do know he is in the elite group and it is hard for them to match up. I also think that the conditions of the match make it even harder for the elite to match up, everyone wants an edge, and Shane might have more influence than other players as to what the game will be.

I'm not exactly sure how much, if any favoritism JCIN gives towards svb. I assume svb is easy to work with. I only say that because he's worked with so often. I'd assume if svb was a problem we wouldn't see him as often. I also get that svb is popular at the moment. If I'm trying to sell a product, I'd pick one I think people would want to see.

Earlier I said that the tar studio is setup to svb strengths. I truely believe that. It's not that JCIN set up the room to help svb out though. He may have just setup a room the best way he saw fit, and it happens to play to svb strengths.
I'm sure there are many players that may play there best with that setup. Hell, I'm not too sure if I set up a table and room that I wouldn't have done the exact same thing TAR chose to do. Again, its not as if its an unusual setup.

The only thing I've really thought was bad were a few commentators. (Not just TAR) some of it is just plain silly. I don't care if Shane's best friend is in the booth. They should just be honest with what is happening on the table. I watched a match where when svb made a mistake it was always referred to as "unlucky," and when his opponent made a mistake it was referred to as "bad play."
The svb vs. wang match was a glaring example of blatant BS.

Leblanc's commentary during the svb. Vs. Dennis match was silly as well. Funnier yet how he tries to act as of he's not having a bias. Just get up there, tell everyone your rooting for a certain guy, and be honest with it.

None of this should reflect poorly on svb though. He can't control perception.

It also may not be the commentators intention to show bias either. I'm sure we've all watched someone we like play a match before. When your watching a someone your rooting for people seem to recall every bad roll they get. More importantly they usually miss the good rolls. Usually viewing them as "earned." It's just human nature. The vast majority of people rooting for the Miami heat to win game 7 thought that Bosh made a good block at the end of the game. Almost everyone else leans the other way. Same thing with the last play of the Super Bowl. Even the fans who viewed them as fouls were saying they shouldn't be called.

I find the fact that multiple people watching the same thing have different perceptions of what actually occures. One of the most interesting things in the human brain to me.

[concerning hitting into a CB frozen to an OB:]Using a normal stroke, you are 100% not going to foul anymore than you would just hitting the cb. I know it seems "weird", but as far as the tip knows, there is only one heavy ball there, not two.

edit: That's why it's allowed in the WPA rules.

Sorry I'm a little late to this discussion, but lots of video proof of this (and a useful aiming system for predicting where the CB heads) can be found on the frozen-CB resource page.

Assuming we're talking about pool, and not snooker, according to the WPA rules, you are allowed to hit into a CB frozen to an OB because a "push" or "double hit" does not occur with a normal stroke. The resulting hit as as "normal" as any other hit (although it can feel very different to the shooter).

The problem was not with cleaning the ball. Shane asked if it could be rotated so that the scuff mark was not at the point of contact. Jeremy said that you can't ask that a ball be spun. You can ask if it can be cleaned, but not rotated.

Kenny came to the table and I don't know if he was asked to clean the ball or rotate the ball, but he did not have a ball marker with him and rotated the ball. That was enough for Jeremy and he unscrewed.

I believe he has asked to be forfeited out of the event and wants his money back for the 8-ball event.

Watchez just asked Ken on the TAR stream to clarify what happened. What Mike said above is basically correct, with the clarification that Shane did ask for the ball to be cleaned, not rotated. Ken did not have his ball markers with him, so instead of going to get them and spotting the ball and cleaning it, he rotated the three ball, and that is what Jeremy objected to.

1. He's easy to work with. No drama ever. I call him and pitch him a match, tell him what it pays, what the format is, who its against and when it will be. He says yes or no. If he says yes then he just shows up when he supposed to. Doesnt call from the airport and ask how he's supposed to get to the hotel or who is going to pay his baggage fee.

2. He will play anyone. You would think with people getting a guaranteed payday this would not be an issue. It is.

3. Historically matches with Shane in them do well. If I was selling cookies and every time I put out chocolate chip they sold out but every time I put out sugar cookies I ended up throwing them away I would try to get a lot more chocolate chip cookies.

Shane does what he says he will, tries hard, doesn't act like a diva and is good to the customers. This shit isn't rocket science, though based on how some players act you would think it is. Players give me shit about "TAR is the Shane show" Thats fine. Instead of b!tching maybe just maybe if they did some of the same things he does they would get their own show too.

My job is to give as many of my customers as possible what they want to see. More often than not that involves Shane right now. How many players can play the people he does even ? Would anyone buy Dennis Orcollo vs someone who would come out of the gate a 30 game dog?
