Posted this on "mechanics" section but didn't get much response. I'm looking for a cloth which will hold up better than 860 but is still on the fast side and can take the wear and tear bangers put on a cloth. Suggestions please.

Thanks for all replies.

You got replies in the mechanics section but you didn't bother to respond to any of them.

That said - put Simonis 300 on your tables.
When it gets well worn take it off and flip it over - effectively doubling the life of the cloth.

I Switched

I have had 860 since 1999 and recently changed to Championship 30/30.
Table plays faster and I have been told it will last longer.
JMHO, Peace, Purdman :)

100% Agree with this. Awesome cloth, amazing wear, even in a commercial setting.

Championship on our home table also.

Looks like and plays like new 3 years later.

Who makes the 30/30? I see lots of numerical references...but don't know if the stuff's made by Simonis, Brunswick...etc. Thanks guys.

FYI
Brunswick does not make cloth (or pool balls).
The commonly used Simonis cloths in the U.S. are 860, 760 and 300.
n10 sent a link to Championship - you can see the different styles they offer on their site.

BTW - Saluc (Aramith) is a mfg in Belgium. Trying to contact them by phone is a waste of time
since they don't sell to the public. Many brick/mortar stores and internet retailers carry Aramith products.

I'm going to have to give this 30/30 stuff a whirl when I refelt my table. Sounds like the nuts.

And yeah...trying to get in touch with Saluc is a colossal waste of time. They don't deal with the public, respond to the public...nothing. It really irritates me too. I'm fine with having to deal with a distributor...but I'd at least like information on whom your distributors ARE so I can try and buy their product. It really soured me on their product.

Just google it - aramith pool balls
or try your local billiards shop if you have one.

Simonis is a 21 oz cloth, I believe, and so the Championship 30-30 does seem more durable, since it's 24 oz.
Danny

Durability comes from % of wool content, not Oz per yd weight
860 is 24 oz - 90/10 wool/nylon
3030 is 27 oz (adv at 24 oz) - 70/30 wool/nylon

We just refelted our tables a couple weeks ago with this cloth :)

It's more expensive than the Titan we used the past couple of years but, the players love this cloth.....it's much much faster ;)

Makes the old felt seem like you're playing on your living room carpet

I'll let you know in about a year how it holds up to the bar box bangers :D

Brunswick has cloth called Centennial Cloth. Championship makes it for them, it is the tour edition with Teflon added to the cloth.

How would you rate this cloth compared to Simonis 860? Also what is the price of this cloth? I saw it listed on the Brunswick site for $399, is that the actual price?

Championship 3030

Great to hear all the positive feedback, a few of you are my customers and the people that change over to 3030 really do see and notice the benefits of Tour over Simonis. Gorina makes a nice Fabric also.

To clear up a statement, Our cloth starts out as a 27 ounce cloth, by the time it is sheared and goes through the finishing process it weighs in at 24. A TRUE 24 ounce cloth. I believe the other weighs in more to the tune of 21-22. If im wrong, dont fry me as I dont get to see Simonis manifest, just mine. After extensive tests done to all Worsted Fabric by a lab... We stand superior in durability. Playability... consistant through break in and no pot holes ;)

Glenn, PM sent on a referral. Long time no talk :D
