I think there is two things that make a dangerous player, but i dont wanna say what i think. Of course there are alot of things that could make someone a dangerous player at the pool table but i want to hear what ya'll think that can make someone dangerous. If this thread has been to hell and back before then please ignore. But i would like to hear your thoughts and opinions. Thanks in advance. Cole.

I think someone who is dangerous is someone who can execute under extreme pressure, who stays calm like Manalo, Reyes, and Souquet.

Btw, you sure are right-eye dominant, aren't you? :D

I would say a dangerous player has more to do with a players head than their shooting abilities. An ice cold player is dangerous. This means he goes for the kill every time. Always plays the correct shot. Never gives any chance to an opponent, even if he is winning by a huge margin. Never FEELS any emotion. Notice I said feel. Hiding an emotion from your opponent but feeling like crap inside is not good enough. He never lets anything distract him either, including intentional moves by his opponent. A dangerous player also must play at his top speed the higher the cash gets. He NEVER gives up, and comes away with the cash most of the time.

Two things, eh?

My thought...

A person who can read a table quickly and adjust quickly.
A person who understands billiards.

Well another thing that comes into play is size of table 7ft or 9ft? and the level of player your talking about.

If its like a B level player, who is playing on a 7ft, i think its having a strong break, cuz if your making 3 or 4 balls then its normally a easy runout. Also knowing when to play safe, and making it a good safe.

A good example is this guy i normally play for $$ he has a damn good break, probably close to 30mph on a 7ft. But he is kinda a head case, and tends to break so hard that the balls cluster and ends up not having alot of runouts. But he also gets the 9ball moving on basically every rack so that is something else i hafta worry about too.

On a 9ft, its the A player who has a strong but controlling break, and has the ability to play excellent safes, so even though they may not break n run all the time, they are in control of the table all the time.

Now normally having a good mental game comes with being able to play well, Hence, someone who is a C or B player can have a good mental game, but might not play like the A or AA player, but still keeps his mind in the game even if he is losing.

Almost dangerous

You also have to be cautious of those 'just dangerous enough' types of players. They don't know any better that some shots are technically very difficult, because they're always shooting difficult shots, so they just shoot at it. Ever notice how novice players make a lot more screwy 9-ball combos than 'good' players? We've all walked away from a match thinking 'What the.. how the.. I should have won that easily!!??'

You hit the spot Ronoh, a player who can adjust quickly is very dangerous. For me this is the hardest thing to do, cause i play on all kinds of different tables every week, my house is a eight footer and when i play at the pool halls they have nine footers, then at leagues we have to play on bar box tables and each table plays different fast slow, the rails pockets etc... And someone who can just get to a table and play their game is a dangerous player to Me. The other personally speaking is someone who had the knowledge of alot of different games, like one pocket, there cushion, straight pool, nineball and eightball. Can make someone very dangerous.

#1 Consistency (Manalo)
#2 Ability (Reyes)
#3 Firepower (Strickland)

Throw in a strong break and you have the total package (Pagulayan).

The most dangerous player is the guy that in his heart truly believes that he is going to beat you.

#5 Style (Bustamante) :D

1) Skill

2) Experience.

Hehe...just had to keep up with the philosophical flow. :)

Dangerous Player

I define a dangerous player as someone that finds a way to win when they are playing poorly. Everyone has days when everything that they look at goes right in. Sixty percent of the time we play our normal game. The remainder of the time we play poorly. The weak player just caves in to it and says "Today is just not my day." The dangerous player fights and claws and sometimes wins on sheer determination.

the most dangerous player is the one who can win while sitting in his chair because the guy shooting is afraid to miss. billy h. and the h. stands for honesty.
