I guys I just want to get everyone's opinion on which shaft they enjoy shooting with, I personally shoot with a z2 but am thinking about trying something new and may use your opinions on what to try. Your input would be great.

Straight grain maple ... 13 mm 4 oz or better with a hard tip !!!

Put that on a steele jointed cue like Schon , Joss or Jacoby and
you have got all you need .

Between 3.5 and 3.7, 12.75mm long pro taper custom maple shaft with low deflect properties. Medium Hard triangle Dud.

Or my Tiger X-Ultra LD shaft, This shaft plays like a conventional shaft but is fairly low deflect but not to much to make it annoying.

Favorite pin is 3/8-10 wood to wood.

I prefer the original shaft by the cuemaker, which is one of the main reasons why I chose that cue in that cue in the first place.
Shaft taper is a big deal and I like certain tapers like Ernie Martinez, James White, Joss West, Tim Scruggs, many more even Schon.
Most of the aftermarket shafts I have play real good like Predator 314 & Z, Tiger-X, and my original Universal Smart Shaft is excellent.
I sold a Z2 to a friend who loves it, great looking shaft, I never played with it but I like the way my Z shafts hit for some reason.
I've picked up a lot of stray shafts in cue deals so I get to try a lot of stuff.
You're probably on the right track with the Z2 from some of the feedback I get, there has only been a couple of these LD shafts that I did not like.
The Predator shafts seem pretty good to me.

I think it's really about taper and deflection...which are the two things I like about pred 1st gen 314's...that and they play better than most LOW DEFLECTION shafts...

I like the long taper...almost whippy...but firm, I like the low def.
I like that I can have 6 different pool cues, and put a pred shaft on any of them and play with it.

I feel like you need to be more accurate with a z2 ..and stroke imperfections are amplified. Seems unnecessary to me.

Shaft.

I like a maple shaft from a tree in the woods. Then I let Murry Tucker turn that thing down to a specific taper that suits my aggressive style of run out pool. Point the skinny end in the general direction of any hole and let her rip! Sometimes I shoot balls to the left, but sometimes to the right. No two shots are the same. It's beautiful to watch!

Predator 314-2

I love my Predator 314-2 (12.25mm, custom tapered), with a Hard Black Kamui on it (Samsara butt).. Ive played a bit with a Jacoby Edge Hybrid I ordered from them, but have been reluctant to take the plunge and commit full time to it (I will eventually). I know a lot of players that have switched to the Edge shaft from Predator shafts (which they loved), and are more than happy they did.
I understand that quite a few people are recommending solid maple shafts, but if you have been playing with an LD shaft (Z2) we both know your not going to switch to a solid maple shaft. So I would recommend trying out the Edge Hybrid. The team at Jacoby are really great people too, and their made right here in the US (unlike Predators).

old maple, the older, the better, i agree with the other guys, 4oz +.

Gulyassy SPTX, 30 inches, about 4.5 oz, melamine ferrule, Kamui Black Soft tip. Pretty much the same shaft Earl used to play with (and I think still uses). Very LONG pro taper, but the shaft freeze Mike dips it in keeps it pretty stiff. LD properties, about like a 1st Gen Predator. The hit and feel of a standard shaft with low deflection and GREAT action. Best shaft I've ever tried in almost 30 years. Mike Gulyassy does something magic with all his stuff, maybe dips them in Unicorn blood or something.....;)

Maple SW

South West shafts are hard to beat, especially with an iv$ry ferrule and a Kamui Black Medium TIP. Long pro taper on these babies and I like them best around a full 13mm. JMO

+1 on BD SS360's. I can't play with anything less than 12MM. I play with an OB Classic Pro at 11:75MM. Like a laser.
