What tip do you use?

Hey all,

This thread is kind of a spin off of another post. There was a discussion regarding different types/brands of tips and whether different ones create more action on the cueball and if there is a difference in their ability to hold chaulk.

So the questions are....

1. What brand of tip do you use?

2. What hardness do you prefer?

3. Why do you use the brand you use and the specific hardness?

i'm a big fan of talisman mediums. when they get broken in they play jam up!

i'm a big fan of broken in le pro's and elkmasters but i've never had one myself. everyone i put on one of my cues turns out to be junk. i almost think the people who's cues i've hit with that told me they had elkmasters/lepro's on were lying to me.

I like Hard tips.

I use a Super Pro.

On my spare cue I have a Talisman H.

The reason is that is the brand that came on it.

i've tried superpro's and they were pretty good. i might end up trying one again sometime

For the longest time, (+15 years) I used Moori medium. This last year I switched over to Kamui hard. I have been very happy indeed.

I switched just to try it out. I had heard a lot of mixed reviews, so I thought I'd see for myself.

I do some cue repair, and this way I can give people a better opinion of a product I've used personally.

I like Triangle. I have jumped around to other brands but keep coming back. I change my own tips and sometimes you have to do a few tips before you get the perfect one but that is no big deal. If I had to pay every time it would be a pain. That is why people need to learn to do their own tips.

I have used the Kamui Hard and I liked it very much. The only reason I don't use it now is because that cue is now gone and there is no reason to change the tip I now use.

There use to be a top player in Arizona named Doug Hale, he wn everything, he played with a McDermott Cue, and LE Pro Tip. Honeslty I do not understand why he don't play any more, but when he was playing most of the "tour" type event in Arizona he alway came out up near the top, or on top.

Triangle, installed by Jim Buss or his brother George. I learned the hard way that who installs your tip makes a difference.

Hard Wizard layered are my current favorite. I also like the hard water buffalo, and a good hard broken in Moori. Hell, I like a whole lot of tips, lol.

Nothing but SuperPros now adays since i was turned on to them years ago.

I like hard tips cause they keep me more focused on every shot.

One of the best tips that was ever given to me was

Strangely enough I have never had to be told to not do that. I just knew. :)

Kamui is a good tip.
