What tools for Brunswick GC disassembly

If all goes according to plan, I am going to pick up a Brunswick Gold Crown 9' table tomorrow.

I have downloaded instructions and seen assembly video, but I want to make sure I have the correct tools with me. What will I need?

Also, are there any "gotchas" I should be aware of?

I will be doing this in a Toyota Highlander with a 4'x8' covered uhaul trailer, so it would be helpful to know how long the longest single piece of the frame is? Looks to be 8' from the photos, but I can't tell for sure.

Thanks in advance for any tips/info.

socket set and ratchet (you'll likely need the ratchet extensions), needle nose pliers or staple puller (to pull staples from the wood backing on the slates), vice grips, rubber mallet, big flathead and phillips screwdrivers, masking tape and marker (to mark parts, to simplify setting up the table again), ziplock bags (to keep screws, nuts and bolts separate and easily identifiable), packing blankets to wrap table rails and legs), wood pallet to stack slates on, and a can of WD40 (if you need to loosen a stuck nut). That stuff, a pickup with an 8' bed, and a few friends for heavy lifting, and you've got it licked! Gook luck!

edit: the longest pieces will be the side rail bodies and the side skirts. they should be somewhere between 9 and 10 feet long. I have done with the 4x8 trailer, and put on the longest pieces in at an angle, so they would fit.

Pool Table Advice

I wish I had known about this site when I found my oversized 8 on Craigslist. I had to move the whole damn thing myself and brought all my tools to break it down because I didn't have a clue.

Don't forget an allen wrench set to get the pocket liners out, I rented a uhaul truck made it real easy, get a hand truck too if you have to move the slate long distances

Cordless drill with phillips and flat head bits

It only takes a hand full of tools to disassemble a Brunswick gold crown for local transport but it takes a shed full of tools to repair, modify or customize the table.

The inside super-secret-slick-setup is a 7/16 speed spanner for the bolts
holding those ridiculous apron corner brackets.

ratchet set / combination wrench set. diagonal cutting pliers or linesman pliers to remove staple wires from cloth.

Thanks for all of the valuable info. Feeling pretty good I can get this table apart and to my house.

This is an opportunistic purchase as I'm getting table at a ridiculously low price.... too good to pass up. The plan is to store it in a spare room (disassembled) for a month or two until the pool room is ready for the table. Gotta run wire for wall mount TV and get new "lower" furniture for stereo gear in place first.

I'll hire a proper table mechanic (of which there are plenty in the Tampa Bay area) to assemble and level it when the time comes. I just wanted to make sure there aren't any exotic tools I need to have.

Thanks again. Pics to follow.... eventually. :)

What a bust....

So, I've got all my tools loaded in the SUV, got a uhaul trailer with a dolly, a pallet and blankets.... I just left uhaul and I'm about 20 minutes into what is going to be a 2 1/2 hour drive... Then I get a text that the table has been sold and is already gone.

At least the u-haul guy was cool and refunded me the trailer charge.

I keep telling myself that it just wasn't meant to be, but missing out on this deal stings like a *****... Here's the craiglist write-up so you can co-miserate:

This is one of the finest Brunswick Pool tables ever made. It's a professional tournament table with original Italian slates and Pro Simonis felt. It measures 9 x 4.5 feet. This package deal includes:

1. 9' Professional Brunswick Pool Table
2. Belgian Super Aramith Pro Balls
3. 2 Pool Cues (one of them being a Schon)
4. Simonis X1 Pool Table Cleaner
5. Wooden Rack and interchangeable Bridge

The buyer must take apart and transport themselves. I'm looking for $600 (cash only).
