The last time I saw Whitey he was playing with no shoes on in a tournament Don Hoppe's room in San Antonio. Sorry to hear about Jerry.
yeh in houston we called him barefoot whitey. he would wear flip flops if there was a house rule about shoes.

The all time undisputed champion in that catagory has to be Rafael Martinez!

We should start a thread about pool players who have been reported to be dead but are still alive and kicking. :D

I used to know a guy named Russ Matthews from Evansville,IN. He wrote the book "Million Dollar Banks". He had a Pro shop In Evansville at a Bowling Alley. He would always hold big tournaments there. Mizerak and Russ seemed to be good friends. Russ could bank the paint off them balls.
Anyways I haven't seen or talked to Russ in a few years, wondering if anybody else knows anything.

Ever so often, we have a thread about certain players that we were wondering about. Add info, add names, and let's locate'em. My names I'm curious about:

Eddie Money (Knoxville, TN?)
Ricky Gracyk (Detroit, MICH?)
John Brown (Savannah?)
Eugene Browning
Walter Glass
Houston Whitey
Bob Ogburn
Tony Mougey (Ohio)
Keith Bennett (Fayetteville, NC)
"Smokey" (Jesse) Jackson, MS/TX?

I have often wondered about "Jesse" aka Smokey who once lived in Jackson, MS and who later was reportedly living in TX. In my awe stages of pool, Jesse was a wonder. :-)

How about?

How about short stop Ralph Carnes out of Cleveland, Ohio?

How about a player named Mark Maryo (Mario - sp?) in Cleveland, Ohio.

Anybody know about these guys?

Do you know why Barry doesnt play anymore just curious.

Not playing much anymore because it doesn't rank high enough anymore on my list of priorities, plus,I just can't stand spending so much time in the smoke filled rooms like I used to. I do still work on pool tables full time as a mechanic in the Dallas Tx area, and I still buy and sell pool tables on the side as a hobby. Some day I would like to get out and play a little more, but maybe after my baby girl gets a little older. Barry

Barry...I might be mistaken, but didn't I see your name on some brackets down in Galveston, last week?

The stories of his demise have been greatly exaggerated. :D
I saw Walter a few weeks ago in Vegas sweating a match.

A few of years ago I was in Las Vegas with Daryl Peach when the Challenge of Champions was in the Mirage.

The McDermott Tour came into town at Pinkie's. Daryl played in that and lost to - Walter Glass.

Later that night he was eating at a Steak House and called for a cab back to the Mirage and who should be driving it - Walter Glass

Yes there are many that just go away. Some pass on and some lose interest. A few might decide to lurk.

Many of my favorite posters are brought back too some extent when someone revives old threads like this one.

Blue Hog ridr....you still fishen?

Thanks pt, I found it here https://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?389776&p=5074732#post5074732

Yes Tramp had a history of leaving and returning after we had given up up him. If I remember correctly he had a few health issues also.

Crawfish was one of my favorite posters on here with his really good very random stories, if he doesn't have a az hof post he surely deserves one. I also miss TrampSteamer he was so randomly outrageously funny and had posted about some health issues.
