What's the history between Gene & Chris?

What got this match going? Does their history go back further than the rumored statement by Gene that he would beat Chris if they were to match up? Have they had verbal or written exchanges in the past, perhaps on here? Did their feud originate over an aiming system debate?

I'm just trying to understand the fuel behind the fire Gene is showing here.

I think it started in 2009 or 2010. Not quite sure how it started, but Gene has gone through some tough times with accidents over the years. He's now in the area and feeling good, so it's finally going to happen.

I believe in the grudge match thread someone put the original thread up from a few years ago.

In a nutshell, this:

Gene: bark, bark, bark

Chris: Well, bark, bark, bark, bark

Gene: NO!!! bark, bark, bark, bark bark, bark, bark, bark

Chris: Come here, and bark, bark,

Gene: bark, bark, bark, bark bark, bark, bark, bark bark, bark, bark, bark bark, bark, bark, bark

Chris: I said, bark, bark, or bark, bark,

Gene: OK, I'm not dying anymore, lets bark, bark, bark, bark bark, bark, bark, bark bark, bark, bark, bark.

Chris: bark, bring it, bark

Gene: It's on, bark, bark, bark,

And that pretty much sums it up I think...

I believe it started over an aiming system thread and I think Softshot had something to do with it as well. I really don't remember what started it but Chris has been trying to play him for a long time.

You missed one...

Bigtruck: Quit your damn barking!! I'll stream it and you can have that money!

Chris and Gene: Purrrrr Purrrrrr

I asked a similar question a few months ago. Perhaps this thread will shed some light on your questions: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=208099&highlight=gene+bartram+5000

Not sure
Someone started the talk of us playing no big deal
But for years gene said he would play but there was always some reason why he wouldn't
I got tired of it cause I know he would never play for 5 k which is what he said the bet would be
The only reason he is playing now is the bet is not real big and he thinks with the ppv he will have a free roll
Sure he could win a few races but this game is way out of line
It's kind of like me calling Svb out to play even but yet I will never play him

Like I said a few threads ago. It's nice that he is getting in the box, I don't see where it takes any heart to instead of playing for the 5k that he said he would play for to wind up in a match that he probably will break even or make a few bucks on. When he loses I hope he just says I lost because Bart is the better player, not 110 excuses as per normal for him. Johnnyt

You are right on here

1 man and no aiming system

Why does that make any difference , Gene is betting 40 percent of his bankroll and Chris is not. Is that heart? I like Chris but there is a lot of BS involved in this statement. Chris could bet 10,000 if he chose. That's the difference

Yes but he is only playing cause this is a free roll
If we had no ppv he would not bet 40 per of his bankroll

Since Gene has been in Columbus he has said enough to at least a few people that he also has Dee Adkins fired up, Dee put it on Facebook that he would give Gene the last 4 on a bar table or 10-7 playing one pock... Now, Chris is one of the 3 best friends I have and Dee is up the pretty far on my list and for just one of them to be this incensed with Gene is something in itself but for both to be on tilt with Gene speaks volumes....

I never heard of someone say "I'll bet 40% of my bankroll" W/O stating how much his bankroll was. If his BR is $1000, that's a $400 bet. If the PPV gets 75 viewers his 25% take losing is about $470. Heart? Johnnyt

Gene has plenty of heart.

You need to go back to bashing bonus ball and hustling mailmen.

I never said I had/have heart on here. I almost always matched up getting the nuts. I love to play pool but I was always in it for the money and got it a hell of a lot more than 50% of the time. Unlike most gamblers I used my winnings to buy things low and sell high. Johnnyt

You know I have big respect for you but if he loses he still loses his ass.. The 25% of the PPV is gas money. He is still checking up a 1,000 short. This is big pressure for Gene
For someone to say it takes no heart is sadly mistaken. Other than pride it would take your 10,000 against his 1,000 to put the same pressure on you. A 1,000 might be chump change to one person and a big obstacle for another.
I'm just trying to explain where I'm coming from on the statement I made
I just don't see it as a free roll.
No heart would be to duck you. I think Gene deserves props for stepping up in Ohio
Good luck and I'll see you next time your around the beach
