What's The Line

At the US Open in Vegas, Jay and I commentated a TAR match and afterwards he says, "The next time you're in SoCal, call me and we'll play some."

So I'm in Burbank at the moment, visiting family, and I call up Jay thinking we'll meet at House of Billiards in Santa Monica, which is half way, sort of, between Burbank and Redondo Beach where he lives and he says, "Noooooo. Come on over. I have a table." And I start to protest, neutral territory and all that, and he says, "But, Lou, at my house: We don't have to pay time."

????

....and I'm thinking to myself, "Self, if we play 1pocket for anything over $5 a game it is going to cost you waaaaaay more than table time to play Jay on his home track."

So what do you think? What's the line: Tomorrow, Lou v Jay, 1pocket, on Jay's home track.

There has to be value,it may not be imediate,in to letting a guy show of his nice room.

Based purely on what I hear of your game and have seen of Jay, you should be giving him a ball even on his home table.

I think 50 or 100 would be a good bet for you, thats if he's wanting to play you for something. You do have the best of it Lou. Sorry Jay.

Hell, Jay will play you a race to 3 or 4 or 5 for dinner. That might be the best thing to do.

Toupee Jay has all the angles covered. First thing he will want to play some banks, and will want a little weight in one hole. Y'all have fun.:)

You're right Eric.

I should have specified...play at Jay's house.

Nothing wrong with a set of each, banks and one pocket for dinner. Jay should know where to go for something good to eat and if he has to buy...maybe not. ;)

Lou:

Jay is stepping down. You're going to be playing Jimmy Fallon instead.

:p

I would get a real close look at Jay before you play. I know he has some monsters that like to hang out at his house.

I wonder if he could talk Shane into shaving his head for half of the action.

You've been warned.

Jay probably has good equipment so that should not hurt your game in any way. Now the question is how much better will Jay play on his own equipment I reckon a ball better than out in the world so if you play a ball better one hole it should be a close to even game. He probably will play more than a ball better full rack banks so he might have the edge in the banks you might want to play him short rack banks and see if he will make an extra ball 6-5, I think 5-4 would be too much as he would have to keep you on 3.

Good luck to you both.

Have a care, Lou. One minute you'll be playing One Pocket with Jay, the next minute you'll be on your way to the Philippines in an oil drum. :)

I guess this isn't going to happen. I told Jay I'd call when I got off the freeway in Redondo Beach to get directions, but he's not answering his phone...

If anyone knows how to get a hold of him I'm going to hang out for another 10 minutes and then call it a wrap.

Head on down to Hermosa Beach along the strand and grab a bite, I'm sure he's just away from his phone for a minute. If it's still there, there's always Fat Burger on Rosecrans or a few other good places over that way in MB.
