Yesterday I put in almost 15 hours of play/practice (yea, my entire body aches today). This is the longest I've ever played continuously (only had a few bathroom breaks) -- I played from opening hours at 11:30am until closing at 2:00am. Since I hadn't slept a wink the previous night (stayed up working the entire night & morning) I didn't plan to play at all -- just wanted to pick up my shaft (that got a new milk-dud tip) and then hit the sack. But since this tip played quite well, I kind of kept on "checking it out" until wee hours... (By the way, my food & beer bill run $47 so it was a good time ;^)

Not any REALLY long marathon matches for me. The longest time that I have played consecutively was when I played against my brother for 8 hours straight (betting very minimally). When I returned the balls to the front desk, the kid says to me, "Dude, 8 hours!". I thought what he said was funny and the way that he said it -- so I've never forgotten that.

Well the world record playing straight is 45 hours over in the UK i believe,i want to beat it but dont know if im there yet and ready. If i do it then i will do it at a room that deserves the record and media attention thats for sure.My friend Jim Abel played for 24 hours straight over 10 years ago to break the record for most balls pocketed in 24 hours,he did it and made it into Guiness books but said it was horrible to do and he would never do it again.Im sure 24 hours of pool is tough especially speed pool, after 48 hours of playing your not going to smell, look,or feel too hot.

The most, 41 straight hours and won $19000. That was many moons ago.

I played till they closed at 2:00 a.m. and then they offered to let me and probably one of the best players in the country under 20, practice while some money matches were going on. So when the sun came up, I finally said that this would be my last rack. It was almost six in the morning when I finally quit playing. I think he wanted the practice before going up to Vegas, sorry, not going to divulge who it was cause I don't want to knock any of his action while he's in Vegas. (I went to the bathroom and started to wash the chalk tattoos off of my hands because my wife doesn't like me playing pool too late, and then I thought about what else I could possibly have been doing staying out till 6 in the morning and decided against washing my hands.)

p.s. I used to play 12-15 hours a day six to seven days a week back in the day. I really didn't have much of a life back then, of course then again, I don't now either. (I worked at a pool hall and was able to play while I was working.)

Many, many, years ago, six hours and broke even:( That's gambling for six hours straight, not much by some standards, I know. Playing, not playing for a while, playing, practicing, playing, in a single day, I don't know.

I opened and closed a bar 3pm-3am and never lost a game. I came back the next day and did the exact same thing. I didn't go back the third day.

Thats 24 hours without losing a single game. The competition obviously wasn't that tough, but it is still very difficult to do.

I used to play in the 15-20 hour range alot when I was younger.
Last Monday night, at a pool hall that I work at from time to time, I worked/played there for about 10 1/2 hours. 530ish pm till 4 in the morning when I locked the doors.

Right at 15 hours straight for me. I ended up winning $5500. Table time was like $147....yes, I covered it. :D

I have a new found respect for pool players now! Nobody watches American Idol!

Just prior to graduating High School (1960), a friend and I drove to Chicago from E. St. Louis one Friday night and played at least 36 hrs. non-stop 14.1 in an Old Pool Hall on State Street, then drove back to E. St. Louis and slept for two days straight ...

Since then, a few 24-40 hr. stints of non-stop One Pocket and 14.1 at Circus Billiards in San Jose, CA. (late 60's - early 70's) ...

These days, I am doing well to play 5 hours without a break ...

Old Age will do that to you ...

Over Thanksgiving break last year I played somewhere around 10 hours straight with my brother-in-law (I can't remember exactly when we started, but it started after dinner and ended just after 4am). Time flies!

once i played a little over 12 hours, other than that perhaps 6 hours. i dont like to play for a long time. now I cant anyways

I've never lived anywhere with a 24hr poolhall, so the most I've played is about 16 hours, which I've done many times. The place I play is open from 11am-2am, but the staff will sometimes let us play an extra hour or more for a nice tip. I try not to play super long sessions anymore, because my game starts to go downhill after about the 12 hr mark.

I'm probably in the 10-12 hour range but that was many many moons ago. I think the longest was probably about 12 hours or so. I went to the pool hall around 6 or 7 in the evening and stayed there all night shooting pool and then had a 9 o'clock flight to Chicago....from Cincinnati. I know I wasn't married at the time because I was going to Chicago to spend the weekend with my girlfriend, who later became my wife, so it would have been around 1989 or so.

3 or 4 hours is plenty now
